L.A. Angels of Anaheim GAME 59/162 THREAD

MONDAY NITE GAME THREAD - Hokah, Minnesota Twins @ Angels - 7 PM
Boof BONSER Vs. Jered WEAVER

Star-divide

You may also post your O.P.D. Guesses in this thread.

While Missus HF and I are following Morrissey on his Road Tour over the next few days, yeswecan and cupie will be posting and hosting and getting toasted probably too.

Random Song Lyrics
I've got to admit it's getting better
A little better all the time
I have to admit it's getting better
It's getting better since you've been mine.

Their pitcher rhymes with "Poof" and our pitcher rhymes with "Strike Three, Wear it!"

I am not sure
if the K to 2B is recorded as a DP in the boxscore - which is what we have to go by, if it is, great, but if it is not than you better pray for a 6-4-2 play at the plate.

by foxpaw on Jun 4, 2007 12:19 PM PDT up reply actions

In the 1991 game at 3-rivers I attended...
Scioscia threw out Bonilla during a strike-'em out/throw-'em out DP and it was recorded as a double play.

See here:
LINK -to- 1991 Box Score

Scioscia hit a go-ahead solo shot in the top of the 9th to win it for the Dodgers.  Bonds went 0-for-2 with 2BB's.

'86 never happened!

FSN HD
Anybody have any problems with the channel tonight?  I tried to start watching on the DVR a bit after 8, but it was a mess -- no sound, and skipping whole batters.  I don't know if it was the FSN HD transmission or my DVR flipping out.

I eventually gave up, exiting the DVR and just going to the station.  I tried to rewind but was unable to go back past 8:12, despite the fact that, since I was recording the program, I should have ben able to all the way back.

From another thread
Garret Anderson is done The last time GA was a good hitter was 2000 and freakin' 3. Since then he has had 4 straight years of declining BA and Slug%, and outside of a minor upblip last year, declining OBP. He slugged (loosely applied here) all of .446 in 2004 and has gotten worse. He is old, and getting older, and since when do arthritic joints, bad backs and shoulders, sore knees and hips get better with age. Where oh where in this can anyone find a sliver of hope that somehow he can hit well enough to help a championship caliber team. Has there been a championship team, ever, that can lay claim to putting a person like that in the middle of the line-up, especially in a position where slugging is about all that's required. He is no longer an asset, and frankly undoes much of the good of the other guys...much like Hillencrap does now. The Angels would be a better team if they just cut him. Teams, and often regular businesses, are loathe to put an unknown quantity in an important position, but that beats a known quantity, when the known quantity is known to be useless. Evans would be a better choice, and get Vladdy out of right before he kills us. by statlr on Mon Jun 04, 2007 at 04:45:38 PM PDT [ Reply to This ]

hahaha
the preview for tonight's game:

"Weaver, who has never faced the Twins, is 3-0 with a 4.24 ERA over his last four outings, receiving an average of close to seven runs of support over that stretch."

13 runs tonight should bump that "seven runs of support" up a little bit.

by scareduck on Jun 4, 2007 10:04 PM PDT up reply actions

True
I just think we need some more breathing room from the A's before the All-Star break.  I think Seattle will cool off for the second half.  Plus, Seattle is still losing their game right now.

by Red on Jun 4, 2007 10:06 PM PDT up reply actions

plus
can seattle turn the page since they are used to losing. Of course they are having a solid year so far.

Not any more
Tied it up in the bottom of the 8th, 4-4, and they just took the lead with an RBI double from Ichiro. 5-4 Seattle.
