Napoli ankle sprain / Aybar xray inconclusive

According to this article:

"The X-rays look pretty good; it's probably a high ankle sprain. I don't think there's anything broken," Napoli said.

Angels LF Erick Aybar left the game in the third inning with a bruised right hand. X-rays were inconclusive; he will be re-examined Monday in Texas.

Also, it said Mora wasn't it much better shape, having to have his foot wrapped and taking pain pills.  It also said that replays indicated he might have beaten the tag at the plate.

We needed this win today!  Hopefully we don't suffer Napoli being out for any extended amount of time ... I don't like the idea of having to rely on J Mo for sole catching duties.

Mathis gets a call?
He may have been safe but Payton was out.

Unless #14 wants to suit up
they'll have to.  Thanks Nick - enjoy your flight...

He wouldn't have any trouble blocking the plate.
FYI, Quinlan is the emergency 3rd catcher if Jose and Nap were to go down during a game.

Quinlan, really?
I always just assumed Figgins was the emergency catcher.

It's Figgy.
Though tt was Quinlan while Figgins was out earlier in the year.

I thought your story was hooy until
I googled it. According to a 2005 article it's true. The following article would appear to dispute that but I don't think Mike DiGiovanna makes stuff up.

Angels' Figgins is versatile, but he still has his limits

Agree
Payton play was very close but - out and Mora was safe.  I'll give them the Payton play to get the Mora call everyday of the week though...
What? Figgins is playing better? Well, I still don't like him.

Very close play at the plate
No way the home plate umpire can call him safe though, the throw beat him by a mile, Napoli made a great play getting his leg over there, and as far as I could tell, there was no view of the foot from where the umpire was standing. I think he made the right call.

Looking at the play on ESPN SportsCenter
Mora had his foot lifted over the bag when he slid.  It wouldn't have mattered where Naps put his foot.
Ervin Santana To AAA! (But only for road games.)

I thought the
same thing.  The throw beat him by 4 steps and Nap had a good block - no way the Ump can call him safe.

I haven't seen a replay since the game Duck - so I dont know how high his leg was - but it looked safe at the time....but who cares - just another Halo victory!

naps might be out longer than we think
i know when you here that a football player has a high ankle sprain, they're out at least a couple weeks and takes about 1/2 the season to fully recover. baseball will be a little easier to rehab but for a catcher, with the constantly getting up and down out of the crouch, it'll be tough. he might be a liability defensively behind the plate.
