Black Magic

He starts in Sacramento tonight against the A's AAA affiliate River Cats.  I'll post a report after the game.

Have I reached 300 characters yet?  Nope.  How about now?  That's not it!!!!!!!  I must be closer?  Now?  Nope.  How about this?  Not quite.  Still not there.  Now?  Still short of the goal, perhaps this entry remedies the problem?

Looking forward to it
He will be facing the future of Oaky-Choaky's lineup.

Solo homer
'Bye Santana.
Santana's where he belongs. Now it's Bart's turn.

Yet
He still manages to start his AAA career with a loss. Ironic, if nothing else.

It's not Ervin's fault...
...that 2 of Salt Lake's 3 best hitters are rotting on the Angels bench instead of in the heart of the SL order where they belong (if they ain't gonna play in the Show).

Agree
Haynes, Morales and Wood need more playing time or should be sent down so they can get some AtBats.
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can't send down Haynes
He's out of options and would have to clear waivers which isn't likely.

Uh, dumb remark if nothing else
I really don't think he being sent down to Triple-A is about wins or losses, more like commanding all of his pitches and getting his head screwed back on correctly.

If it were all about Ws or Ls we would never have signed Escobar to a long term deal because of a lack of run support---I don't buy that criticism.

Hey SCARED DUCK
there is a guy named BILL JAMES, he writes a little about baseball - he did research that to measure a pitcher's competecy and found that WINS was a lousy measurement as it depended so much on the team the pitcher had behind him over whihc he had no control.

That was LAST NAME: James, first nae: Bill. Seriously, read up on this sport you like and you might understand it in a broader capacity...

What kind of fan....
... taunts Santana for giving up 1 R in 7 IP, in an impressive performance? I don't get it.

No shit
That is a good start.  I am happy to see that Santana did not mail it in out of dissapointment.

Scareduck is the ultimate pessimist

I'm giving Figgins a big F U. Seattle isn't winning 90. I am not worried.

hope he comes back strong
Could sure use him as part of the rotation, especially in '08.

Black Magic Part 2
As a few of you know, Black Magic gave up an HR today.  The good thing is that I can provide some context for the box score.  BM gave up 3 hits in 7 innings including the HR; he sat the entire gamae at the end of the Bee's bench all by himself until his last innings when some Bee's game him some props.  His body language was such that he doesn't feel as though he should be pitching there.  That's probably a good thing.

Considering how he's done in the show this year, tonight was actually quite good.  He only threw about 6-7 more pitches for stikes than balls but only tossed a high 80's number of pitches, maybe 90, the entire game.  He had a little trouble spotting his fastball and off-speed stuff wasn't spotted that well but looked good.  Although when he need to make a pitch, whether a heater or breaking ball, he got the job done.  Overall, it was a good night and a performance to build on.  I wasn't bowled over, but given how he's thrown recently I can cut him some slack

That seems
like a lot of pitches outside of the strike zone.  I obviously wasn't at the game so I don't know how much he was missing by - but that should be a concern.

Had to be pitching from behind fairly often where the big boys would make him pay more often then the minor kids...

The one run and 3 hits is encouraging though.

Hopefully he can improve to increase his trade value (probably for offseason now) or replace Bart later on...

What? Figgins is playing better? Well, I still don't like him.
