Escobitchin'

Panther of the Game: Kelvim Escobar

Escobar consistently shows more poise and consistency than any other Angel starter. He is our ACE.

The only difference
Between Lackey and Escobar's results is that it seems like Escobar gives up less big innings.

Escobar is money this year.  Panther.

Willits for ROY

the head game
escobar's more level-headed and therefore doesn't let the wheels fall off to give up the "big inning".

Speaking of head game
Thanks a lot, Russell Martin, for beaning the hitting streak out of Casey Kotchman.

Escobar
Escobar has pitched great for the past three years.  Only difference is that this year he's getting run support.

take THAT to the "all-star" game
kelvim showed tonight what a true all-star looks like.

Lackey's still the ace
Though he needs to feel the competition. Dollar says Big Thunder finishes w/ a lower ERA & more wins....

GA was 2 for 4!!!!!
gotcha!  good job Kelvim!!!!  we needed that BADLY!!!

I raise a dollar to mattwelch
And say that one of the Angels staff wins the Cy Young. But, I bet you anything it's the pitcher that's not going to the All Star Game.

Two things
One, from Google:

News results for kelvim escobar

Escobar, A's top Rangers - 22 minutes ago
Arlington, TX (Sports Network) - Kelvim Escobar tossed seven strong innings to earn his 10th win of the season, as the Angels avoided a sweep with a 5-2 win ...

ESCOBAR AND THE A'S?  SOMEONE'S HEAD NEEDS TO BE TAKEN FOR THIS TRAVESTY.

Two: Minus his blow-ups in Seattle and Baltimore this year, he has a 2.24ERA.  Amazing.

Our ace and all
until he melts down.  I think they're all prone to bad games now and then, it's just that his win came at a time when the Angels really needed one.
Ervin Santana To AAA! (But only for road games.)

true
but we don't talk about "Bad Escobar" and "Good Escobar" the way we do with Lackey. I think the hootchies of MySpace have less of a hold on Kelvim's concentration than Thunder Mountain has on Lackey's.

Memo to Sosh
When Escobar pitches there are two rules:
  1. Red jerseys
  2. Molina catches
Escy is undefeated with an ERA just over 1 with JoMo behind the dish.

My favorite part?
They misspelled his name despite getting it right earlier in the article. I mean, honestly, how hard is it to catch something like that?

It happens
The news cycle is about ten minutes long these days.

we've got a few aces
you can't knock John off the top spot, but you can put Kelvim up there beside him.

this series is a good reminder while the AL WEST is ours this year - despite the offense going into a funk, there's enough on this club to continue to pile up victories each week.

Maybe Weaver can get in the mix too
If he can learn how to pitch an 0-2 strike.
