Like I said
That bat drop after his last shot was money.

What a game!

His Patience Paid Off
and now he is the All Star Games HR King.   I cannot wait to see how that patience pays off for him in the second half of the season.

Vladdy is Back and I predict he jacks 21 bombas in the second half alone!!

Who
was that dude with the Jordan Barber shirt? They needed to keep that dude on a leash.

by Howie the Halo on Jul 9, 2007 8:19 PM PDT reply actions

Anybody else
think the cameraman standing just outside the other batter's box at ground level was taking his life into his hands being so close to Vladdy?

I'd need a bombsquad suit and shield to do that.

That was an unmanned camera
You could see one at that angle on each side of the plate in longer shots.
Stoopnocracy is peachy

by rspencer on Jul 9, 2007 9:26 PM PDT up reply actions

Bullshit it was unmanned
The two on the baselines just in front of the plate were unmanned, but there was clearly a man kneeling on the ground just outside the other batter's box aiming up at the hitters.

Robot
Dude had to be a robot programmed to be there.

No sane human would've been there without protective gear like that dude.

The Real Champion is Ron Roenicke
That's the second time he's thrown a HR Derby Champion. Dude knows how to serve 'em up right. :P

All kidding aside, way to go Vlad. Also booyah! to the guys in my topic who didn't want him to hit any.

thought it was Ebel
i've also noticed less compalining about ebel this year.

by SCHalo on Jul 9, 2007 8:24 PM PDT up reply actions

Oh that's right.
I keep forgetting Roenicke isn't the 3B coach any more. Whoops, oh well. ^_^

Dino Ebel...

And whats funny, is that he was actually pretty wild.  Haha!

Oh, hey man
I was just sayin' it looks like you photographed this ball on your dirty clothes pile.

Tide gets your whites whiter, and your colors brighter, that's all.  Lord knows Tide's gotten me out of some tight jams...

Am I the only one
who's worried somewhat about that blister?

by jerryhattrick on Jul 9, 2007 8:29 PM PDT reply actions

vlad said
it was a problem with the tape on his finger, not a blister

Also
I didn't see most of the derby, just the first couple in the first round, and Vladdy winning it, but from what I Hear, they made some asinine comments about Scioscia and the Angels when they were checking to see if Vlad was injured, and then they blew it off by saying "no one on ESPN cares about the Angels anyway."

Did anyone catch this or get a recording? If so, we need to write us some flame mail to ESPN.

by shiftyeyedgoat on Jul 9, 2007 8:38 PM PDT reply actions

I watched through the 2nd round
including Vladdy retaping his finger, and heard nothing of the sort.
Get well soon Kotch.

by ReggieBullits on Jul 9, 2007 9:03 PM PDT up reply actions

The only comments about the Halos
were positive ones. Albeit erroneous. They seem to think that getting G.A. back is a key for the team.

On Radio
Seattle feed

Quote was
"Vlad isnt injured, his tape was coming undone. Mike Scoissia can order another pizza and relax."

(Announcer) "Ok thanks Len, and you can deal with the reprecussions of that comment on your own"

(Pasquerelli)"(laughs) its ok, no one at espn likes the Angels anyway"

by Pwn on Jul 10, 2007 4:08 AM PDT up reply actions

it is true
nobody at espn likes the angels. That is news?

VLADDY's YOUR HR DADDY BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pujos Scared me for a second when he started off the second round but then it was all Down hill for vlad from there.
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love that picture of Vlad...
...especially the psychedelic background colors.  Looks like a poster for Valdamir Guerrero live at the Fillmore West, with special guests The Jefferson Airplane and Big Brother and the Holding Company.

Why did I pick Matt Holliday?
Ugh, I knew I should have picked the Vladiator.
And, I shall count thee among my favored sheep and you shall have the protection of all the angels in heaven.

There's a story on espn trying to refute the home
run derby is bad for your swing theory. I think you have to have an insider account to read it but I provided an excerpt at the end just to make people worry.  I own a lot of stock in antacid companies

BTW, the article is written by someone named Tristan H. Cockcroft.  I wouldn't trust anything written by someone name Tristan H. Cockcroft.  I mean the guy is in the media business and his name is Cockcroft

VLAD
is bad as in good as in da wood in his bat.

by blaqhalo on Jul 9, 2007 9:59 PM PDT reply actions

Just saw the highlights on ESPN.
Vlad was hitting some moonshots.

Now maybe he can win the MVP tomorrow, just like Garret in 2003, and we can have another similar finish to the season....

No, wait...

by bc56274 on Jul 9, 2007 10:14 PM PDT reply actions

way to go vladdy...
once he settled down and took his time it was over.  now we need to get home field advantage for the world series that WE WILL be in and then focus on getting back to our 6 game lead in the AL west.  Vlad is gonna hit atleast 20 jacks the second half...
