Around SBN: Indy 500: 'Greatest Spectacle In Racing' Set For Sunday

Shutup in Seattle

Panther of the Game: John Lackey

Rev Halofan: Oh yeah, Lackey is the Panther of the Game.
Missus Halofan: Why?
Rev: Uh, Complete Game Shutout against the 2nd place team in August is Panther all the way.
Ms.: What does Matthews have to do to get Panther of the Game?
Rev: He got it Sunday.
Ms.: Oh, in that case, okay, he pitched pretty good. Make sure to mention that Lackey carried around a pink towel in the dugout...

Well earned
Good game John. Gave the bullpen another rest.

Co-Co-Panther gotta be OCab
Awesome that there are Panther options tonight.  Great performances by everyone but our 3-4 guys.

Good win.

We'll be fine.

Escobar pitches a shutout a couple weeks ago...
GA gets a two run single, and wins the panther.

Tonight Lackey pitches a shutout, Matthew hits two homeruns, and Lackey gets the panther.

We need some consistency, gentlemen!

(I agree with Lackey, btw)

this one happened to be
against the team right on our ass. A shutout is a CG, Escy didn't pitch a CG and it WAS agianst the Rays.

Isn't consistency the hobgoblin of little minds, anyway?

by Rev Halofan on Jul 31, 2007 10:09 PM PDT up reply actions

He pitched eight innings, and it was a tight game.
Which meant, better pitching.
And who cares if it was against Tampa.  He was pitching at 9:00 AM California time, and you know his hoochies are night owls...

I wish my buddy Scareduck was around, I want to know how to use that fancy gadget he posted in the game thread.  I'm smitten with it.

But it's not August
And what happened?  I stopped reading after about the fifth or sixth post in the game thread because Rob told me bad Lackey was on the mound.

Huge win
Nice to see Lackey pitch a 9 inning shut gem.  GMJ, OC, and Izzy go off!  All had Panther like performances.

Take tomorrow against Felix and things look nice..

Not be a downer but the duck in me thinks its not good to have your 3 and 4 hitters go 0-10 with 8 LOBs against hittable pitchers though...

What? Figgins is playing better? Well, I still don't like him.

Vlad
is a problem, for sure.  I'm beginning to think he's hiding an injury or something.
Hoping Ervin Santana turns it around in Salt Lake. Go, Ervin!

It's the blister he got at the HR derby.

Fangraphs
says Lackey and GMJ are in a virtual tie. Co-panthers, then.

GMJ
12 total bases, i would have gone with him but i'm just a minion.

Panther of the Day is Stoneman - for not trying to fix something that's not really broken and having the cojones to stand pat.

Maybe not Pantheresque but Pantheresque 2?
Mathis did a mighty fine job behind the dish tonight.

The young man is coming around. He's beginning to look like he belongs back there.

Today is all right for toniiight!

Totally... Saved some balls in the dirt with men
on based and had a killer snap throw to first last night.  He also looks more relaxed.

Glad to see someone else giving props to the C
I said this after you in the "two complete games post" and just read your yesterday post now.  Good call.  Mathis is really gaining confidence.  Hope he continues to grow.

could I have an honorable mention
for panther to the home plate ump, who spent the first 4 1/2 innings behind the plate with his fly open????

=)

lol
ya think someone would have told him.

What would have made that a dream come true is if it were Dougie. Oh the photoshopping that could be done on that one.........give him something where nothing exists!
