I was just watching the 2 A.M. SportsCenter and heard him say that the Angels were one of the two trade deadline losers. The other was the Cleveland Indians. The reason that the Angels were one of the two trade deadline losers? Well, it wasn't because they failed to pickup a power bat, which would be the most logical reason.
But, rather, it was because the Angels failed to pickup a starting pitcher. Yes, a starting pitcher. He said that because Colon is injured and Santana was horrible this season which led to him getting sent down to the minors, the Angels needed another starting pitcher.
I guess having John Lackey (13-6; 3.07), Kelvim Escobar (11-5; 2.87), Jered Weaver (7-5; 3.68), and Joe Saunders (4-0; 3.16) is not good enough. We have to go out and get that fifth starter who won't get a chance to go in the postseason. I mean, Brandon Wood for Jon Garland would sure be a steal.
And, this is why 46-year old ex-Phillies should not be analysts on SportsCenter.
