Santana earns another start

From the Angels' official website:

It was significant on two fronts -- the comeback by Santana, who once again resembled the 16-game winner from 2006, and the comeback in the ninth inning against a man once known as the most dominant closer of them all.

"Ervin throwing the ball the way we saw is going to be very big for us, and he's going to start next week for us [at Angel Stadium]," Scioscia said.

Working quickly and finding an excellent rhythm with Ryan Budde, who caught him all the way back at Class A ball, Santana retired 16 of the first 17 hitters he faced, throwing mid-90s consistently with a quality slider and changeup that kept hitters off balance."

I think Budde should be Ervin's personal catcher until Napoli comes back.

Mosely
Is nothing great but he's kept us in games.  Santana is either lights out or gives you no chance to win whatsoever.  I agree he's earned another start though.  Pitching in Fenway is about as tough an assignment you can give a pitcher.
If I went to war and could only take one weapon, it would be an HK47.

Santana Banana-Rama
He showed alot of cool composure today and seemed to have control of the ball most of the time. Budde did a good job catching him in spite of getting hit in the face once. He deserves a shot, what the hell. He was better than Lackey and a hell of alot better than that basket case Scott Shields.

His Hair
I like the new haircut.
A pipeline of talent, welcome to Anaheim.

That's the "old" hair
He's sporting the look he had as a 16-game winner - not the "I'm cool because I'm a 16-game winner" look.

I also noticed that he let the "beard" grown in a little more.
No matter the look, he did a solid job and I my tip my cap to him.

I actually think that D-Mose (the former Bratz-backpack carrier) did a decent job and did nothing to be taken out of the starting line up. I'd say send Erv down to AAA for like 1 or 2 more starts and bring him back up for the stretch roadtrip.

i like moseley
someone said it perfectly. nothing amazing but for a #5 who was our #7 at the beginning of the year, he sure keeps us in a lot of games and gives our offense every opportunity to take a lead.

santana scares me. moseley i at least have a good idea of what im getting(2-4 runs)

In his last 4 starts
Moseley has averaged less than 5 innings, with a 6.86ERA.

He only kept us "in the game" in the Tigers start (4 2/3IP, 4ER) because our offense exploded that game.  Same thing in the Boston start (4 2/3IP, 6ER).  He was decent in Toronto (5IP, 2ER), and he wasn't terribly good in Oakland (5 1/3IP, 3ER- 5.06ERA).  So he's essentially hit or miss...and the hits aren't that impressive.   I don't see how he's any more trustworthy with the ball with Ervin Santana...especially if Ervin's confidence is returning.

give ervin the rock...
and play the "welcome back kotter" theme song when he takes the mound.

That's flipping hilarious
I actually would be quite comfortable with a rotation of

Lackey
Escobar
Saunders
Santana
Moseley

Hmmm who's missing?

Don't call me Desmond
