An asterisk in Anaheim
While having a conversation with a Giants fan concerning the validity of the home run record, he said that Bonds along with A-Rod were predicted by a local sports talk show to be members of the Angels next year, (don't ask me what show or who it was, this is second hand). It got me thinking, how would Angel fans react to hearing, "Now batting for the Angels, Designated Hitter, Barry Bonds," over the Big-A PA system.

No way
And Arte already sent a volley that at $30 milion, A-Rod is too too expensive.
I agree
On a semi-related point, I was at the Yankee/Sox game on Thursday afternoon w/ my Angel hat and I had several people stop me to say that ARod will wind up an Angel. There's a lot of speculation with that, I think, because of Cashman's ultimatum that if he opts out, the Yankees are out of the bidding (can anybody smell bluff?). My guess is that Bonds goes elsewhere and Arod goes nowhere
Barry Rules won't fly in Anaheim
- Arte cares about that stuff, and perhaps more importantly,
- No way in HELL is some player going to waltz into Year 9 of an organizational culture and start imposing a bunch of barcalounger, me-first bullshit.
Off Topic
Barry = no chance
This, coupled with a post-season offensive collapse (I knock on all things wood as I type this) on the part of the Halos, could potentially exert enough pressure to add the proverbial big bat.
I, for one, think adding A-Rod at $30 million would be an enormous mistake and that kind of money could be used towards multiple players, whether for re-upping Vlad and/or adding another piece or two to the pie...

problem is
i'm just worried about what happens when you've got all that money tied around a-rod. how do you cement the youth we have to long term and fairly decent contracts, specially k-rod. we gotta keep k-rod.
Don't forget
So not only would we essentially be giving Texas 10mil/year just to sign A-Rod, but we'd also be taking it away from signing future stars (Kendrick, Kotchman, Weaver), and disabling us from resigning biggies like Vladdy, Lackey, KRod, Escy, etc.

If he opts out, Texas gets it no matter what
And we're not taking that money "away" from future signings, necessarily. We've got $25 million-plus coming off the books after 2007, and again after 2008, with cheap replacements ready to fill the roster & lineup slots.
i don't get why some people still want bonds.
I'd love to have A-Rod.
The Cubs are building up a powerful roster that is very reminiscent of the Yankees from early in the decade.
And in San Fransisco they are going to need to replace Bonds. A-Rod would bring a lot of CROSS-OVER appeal to the Giants.
i highly doubt a-rod would go to the giants
The Giants
Also I doubt A Rod changes leagues and goes to a pitching park at this point.
Two Words....
Jose Guillen
The organization has proven it won't take me-first clubhouse primadonnas.
On the other hand, I'd love to see A-Rod playing third.
