Around SBN: The Pros and Cons of an 18-game NFL Schedule

Oh crap, we're still number one.

I was hoping that the monumental collapse of the Metropolitans would erase the 1995 you-know-whose collapse as the worst of all-time. Alas, we're still number one.

Read here for the "top" 13 collapses of all-time (the Mets moved into the number two slot earlier today).

I knew 95 was the worst of all time.  I used to run simulations myself back then for playoff odds, and I think I stopped right after that season as the heart just went out of me.  I mean if they were 99.98% and lost I figured I was doing something wrong.

Statistical analysis, feh!
Just kidding, but subjectively, it seems ludicrous to rate the Angels' 1995 fade as so much worse than the Mets' fade this season as the linked article does. In my memory, at least, the fact that we pulled out of the nose dive the last week and forced a playoff mitigates the fade somewhat.

My wife tells me that at the time she was terrified that the Angels' fade would ruin our wedding, which came the next Saturday, but I wasn't going to let anything ruin that.
