Intensities in Ten Innings

Panther of the Game: Chone Figgins

Shields was nails, but is it too wishful to bestow the award of the night on him when it was Figgy, sprung back to life, who scored all three of our suddenly precious runs???

If you were at the game tonight you can tell your grandkids that you were present when Garret Anderson was intentionally walked THREE times.

If you are John lackey, you are crying for a stat that calculates WINS as adding games that wound up as blown saves. Will our October bullpen combo be Oliver in the 8th and Speier in the 9th? Is it too late for a re-do on the Kevin Gregg trade?

Figgs but definitely
picking up where he left off.

The Nugent reference takes me back to my days working at In-N-Out. . .don't do that!

Figgy was definitely the
spark plug tonight.  Hey Rev saw you at Frescas before the game.  Didn't want to interrupt your dinner with the Missus.
A big FU to the A's and Red Sox....

Figgy for shizzy
I was at the game and the crowd was truly electrified whenever the Chone-meister came up.  He is so important to us.

Side note: I was talking to some guy in the row in front of me and we were joking that you could have given me 100 to 1 at the start of the year and we still wouldn't have bet that GA would be intentionally walked 3 times in a game.

every single damn thing. from vlad to aybar, from k-rod to bulger, from moreno to butcher.

this is a team many others would bleed to have.

Angels baseball is a beautiful thing. GO ANGELS!!!!

This team is clutch
they play better when it's close and every man contributes, in their own way, for the win. I am so happy for Figgins - he hasn't lost his magic. Now  if Haynes would sprinkle some of his magic on Vlad, that would be over the top.

i'm starting to think our bullpen is enjoying this
As bad as it seems they've been at times the offense picks them up. Figgins coming back tonight was huge because now he can lead-off and that's been a hole lately. His tag-up was huge in the 10th, that ball was not hit that deep and was on a line right at the guy.

Shields has been a constant disaster lately but there was something about him tonight. He got ahead and finished off the hitters nicely. Also, Mathis making a nice block in the dirt with them loaded added to Shields' confidence as they've been a miserable catcher-pitcher combo so far.

Bad Shields makes me unhappy...

Gettin Figgy with it...........
Morales made up for his GIDPs with the walk off hit to continue his 12 game hit streak.
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Angels' magic number is 14
That's a week of sweeps and a week of the M's being swept.  The earliest I can reasonably foresee the Angels clinching is the week of the 16th.
Hoping Ervin Santana turns it around in Salt Lake. Go, Ervin!

Shields looked very crisp
and all of the angst and anger that I once had for Oliver has now been  transfered to Frankie.  I think someone needs to give him a few slaps and pour a bucket of cold water over him.
