that Mickey Mantle to you!
Kotch would've had that.

LOL it's funny how on the top of the 3rd inning the announcers said......
“Hey isnt this when Lester becomes a different pitcher and hitters have a VERY hard time hitting his pitches.”
The very next pitch went for a single, then when Iwamura hit the double they were all over the Rays saying, “You notice how good Bartlet reads the ball, he knew it was going off the green monster.” Now it seems they have switched their T.B.S. services to the Ray’s.
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Was that the very first
checkswing strike in Kevin Youkilis’ career?
Guess the ump strokes are fair in this game and the Pantyhose cannot cope.

Shoot, I missed the homerun balls.
The damn halogen lamp in my TV blew just as the game was getting ready to start. I found this cool Asian lady in Glendale to fix it for me for $180. Only took her an hour to get it fixed for me. She was a baseball fan too. Oh well, at least my house is’nt going up in flames or anything.

Wait.
53 at bats and counting for Ortiz without a postseason home run? Why is this the first I’m hearing of this? Wasn’t that about the same streak they mentioned for Vlad during EVERY AT BAT?
by leftwing on Oct 13, 2008 3:36 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
to their credit
they may gangbang a guy when he is up, but they spit on him when he is down after 50 AB regardless of his team…
by Rev Halofan on Oct 13, 2008 3:49 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, true.
Though, and this may just be my own fandom showing through, when they say it about Vlad, it sounds like, “This guy is a choker, he hasn’t hit a homer in 53 postseason at bats!”. But when it’s about Ortiz, it’s more like, “He’s such a great player, he must be due, he hasn’t hit a homer in 53 postseason at bats!”
by leftwing on Oct 13, 2008 3:56 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Adding....
And, now that I read what I just wrote, that’s pretty justifiable, since Ortiz HAS proven that he can dominate in the postseason, and Vlad really hasn’t.

"during the traditional 8th inning stretch"
only a halfhearted rendition of Sweet Caroline.
I hate that song.
If GA wasn't so Lazy, I'd have something clever here.

You should try having to play it
when the people paying you requested it and you just watched the Angels lose game 4. Talk about hatred. Still debating on quitting that job…

I was at a piano bar for game two
and they played that song 3 times.
Needless to say I stopped sending up tips.

I agree with you to a point, but "Buttercup" should not be played in any baseball stadium anywhere ever.
Now a confession…my wife and I went back to a game at Fenway in April, 2007 (Angels-Sux). The Angels lost…I think it was 8-1. Carrasco started in place of Escobar. It was just a bad game and a bad road trip for the Angels (that was when they played 3 games against Cleveland in Milwaukee ’cause Cleveland was under about a foot of snow). Oh well…we had never been to Boston or Fenway, so it was still worthwhile.
Here’s the confession…after the game they played “Tessie” by Dropkick Murphys over the PA system. I had never heard the song before. If you haven’t heard it, Tessie is a great victory song…the kind you can imagine singing with like-minded fans or buddies. And…damn…I was just kind of jealous. About…maybe 5000 people singing together a kind of fun party/bar song. I really liked that. It just created a sense of comraderie…well for Boston fans anyway. I have thought since then, what would be an equal for the Angels? I haven’t come up with anything, not yet anyway.

This is fun......watching the Sux get pounded by our very own Joe's Rays.
I also like watching all those fans leave in the 8th. What great fans, best in the world if you ask me.

I also enjoyed watching the exodus.
Hey Bostonians, maybe someday you can grow up to be real baseball fans.

Wakefield goes tomorrow should be good.
The Angels may have beat them 8 times in a row, but winning three before they do is all that matters.

"And the Fenway Faithful make a mass exodus for the exits."
This was after 8-1 in the top of the 8th. I love the irony in this statement that I’m fairly sure the announcers didnt even notice.

JC Romero pitching for Philly...
…can anyone explain why he couldn’t pitch for us (OK…he was decent against lefties)?

tough loss for the dodgers
then again, weren’t all of our losses to boston tough ones? game seemed more like they had the game to win and gave it up, as we did…repeatedly.

That Andre Either at bat was huge
J.C. Romero was having trouble getting strikes on Furcal and walks him to lead off-the 8th. Just as the Dodgers seemed to be gaining some momentum, Either swings at the 1st pitch for a double play with Manny on deck. That just killed the inning for the Dodgers.

and gave some hitting tips to Andre.

Tough loss Dodgers ,but how about those Rays!
Wow, two clutch Hits by the Phillies one by Victorino and how about that homer by Stairs? Looks like the Dodgers have a Howie Kendrick of their own in Russell Martin, leaving 8 men stranded. But any ways, that was a great win by the Rays in Boston, congrats to Joe Maddon. Wish we had Longoria and Upton on the Angels.

That just makes OUR performance look even more pathetic.

the whole we lost to the team that won the world series is old
id rather see boston destroyed…we’re out, style points dont count for anything if you dont win it all.

agreed
i just can’t get behind the idea of rooting for the team that beat our team. the rays on the other hand have maddon, a cinderalla story, AND they weren’t the team that kicked us out of the playoffs.

a ryas/phillies series is now acceptable to me.

same
although I feel bad for the dodgers. id rather see them get beat in 7 games in the WS than to the phillies.

the one reason i disagree withthat
yes, a heartbreaking defeat would be awesome, but realize that with every postseason game, McCourt makes money.
