Don Baylor and Richard Nixon
It may not be Elvis, but...
Also on display is a night table clock given to Richard Nixon, an avid baseball fan, by California Angels star Don Baylor in 1979 as a thank-you gift for a White House visit. Nixon treasured the battery-powered Seiko until his death in 1994.

I have a vague memory of Nixon being in the Angels Clubhouse
the night that they beat Kansas City in 1979 to win the AL West for the first time. I think he was interviewed on the radio.

That why they hate us so much
And because Disney owns ABC, which owns the sports channel ESPN, they made sure there were plenty of Angels broadcasts featuring their new California Adventure theme park in the background.
I was living out of the country during this dynasty, and never quite put it altogether.
But now I see the light on the revenge that is now being inflicted upon the franchise. East Coast bias seems to be only a small part of it now.

ESPN wanted to start a regional network like Fox Sports West
and the Angels would be one of its anchors. At least, that’s what I remember. When that fell through, they lost interest in sports teams.
