What needs to change for tomorrow night?

Or does anything need to change at all?

Do we need to be more patient at the plate?  Do we need to be more aggresive at the plate?

Does Scioscia need to make lineup adjustments?  Should Rivera replace GMJ?  Should Naps start in spite of Erv and Mathis' chemistry?  Or should Naps DH?

Does anyone want to throw Aybar under the bus after last night?  Give Bean Town a taste of Dick Wood?

Here's the lineup I'm hoping for:

Figgy 3B

GA LF

Tex 1B

Vlad DH

Torii CF

Rivera RF

Howie 2B

Napoli C

Aybar SS

I know Mathis will be starting, but I can still hope.

Hopeful, but Johnny Rivers is only about seventy-ish percent healthy

i love your lineup

but as i said yesterday (i don’t remember where, exactly), the approach we took in Wednesday’s game (patience, taking pitches) is the one that we NEED to take on Friday. The problem with Wednesday’s game was that Lester was throwing strikes, and we were watching them go. We needed the hacking last night.

Dice-K, on the other hand, is way up there with league leaders in walks, and we absolutely need to take some pitches tomorrow night.

Yes, I think Napoli should start tomorrow. Yes, I think Rivera show start tomorrow.

Kotch would've had that.

Friday Lineup (my thoughts)

Figgy 3b
GA LF
Tex 1b
Big daddy DH
Hula Dula CF
Morales RF
Kendrick 2b
Mathis C
Aybar SS

Lets see how this matches up with the lineup Scosh throws out there…the only thing I can see changing is inserting Johnny Rivers for Morales, but I think Morales is going to get the start and I think he is going to come up huge and will be a fixture in RF through game 6 of the worl series…. (obviously this is the day we win the championship)

that he should do tomorrow night.

generally play well?

Kotch would've had that.

by howiestheman on Oct 2, 2008 7:57 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Indeed

Let’s maybe take the pressure off him and allow him to get Figgy wid it. This of course requires 2-9 to MASH.

Light Up That Halo!

for sure.

but, for them to begin to mash, he NEEDS to do his job. period.

he HAS to get on base.

Kotch would've had that.

by howiestheman on Oct 2, 2008 8:36 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

get on base?

Driven into right-center field, Erstad says he has it...the Angels, world champions!

LO

I would like to see the leadoff man get on base in some innings, that should lead to a good result.

we need to freaking relax, man

that’s what needs to change.

i’ve noticed (thus far anyway) that the Rays and the Dodgers, who’ve both been winning, have looked VERY relaxed and VERY in control. they’re playing the game that they want to play, and they’re doing in their time.

THAT is what we need to do… not freak out and try to do too much (a la Vlad’s base running), but just sit back, relax, wait for our pitches and execute.

Kotch would've had that.

by howiestheman on Oct 2, 2008 9:33 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

I think you're right

Which is why Speier’s antics in the clubhouse were a good thing™. Torii also needs to unleash some of that Hula Dula in the dugout.

absolutely agree

on both points.

i mean, that nervousness bred a downer-like attitude… that dugout was not loose. everyone was walking on pins, constantly pissed and looking dejected. that’s not the attitude of a winner.

i think Speier did a great thing today, trying to loosen everybody up and get them back into that loose, “hey we can beat anybody, cuz we don’t give no credit to nobody” mentality.

and yes, Torii could help in that a lot as well.

Kotch would've had that.

by howiestheman on Oct 2, 2008 10:04 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

and can you really trademark

“good thing”?

Kotch would've had that.

by howiestheman on Oct 2, 2008 10:04 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Why not?

The Vancouver OOC trademarked “2010” and a phrase from “Oh Canada”, “With Glowing Hearts”.

one thing that will definitely be different

i will be at the big A to watch this 10-game losing streak end once and for all. just got the call about the tickets. i can’t wait. i’m putting my personal 4 game “wins over the red sox at the big A when i’m there” streak on the line. this is the playoffs though….but we can do this.

by SCHalo on Oct 2, 2008 10:39 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

hope you have better luck than me...

i was there wed. to watch that 9-game losing streak end once and for all aaaaand… yeah. haha but on a serious note i think if voodoo matches the performance of lackey the halos will be in good shape. GO HALOS !!

What needs to change is the background behind homeplate

On Wed night I wanted to toss something at the TV as I was forced to see/watch Scott “Borass” Boras sitting in his pricey seats talking to anyone that would listen as he did not watch the game unless he heard his clients announced over the PA.

Get that guy gone already. He is secretly rooting for the Red Sox anyway what with J.D. Drew, Jason Varitek, Daisuke Matsuzaka, and Jacoby Ellsbury.

Nothing

Go with what we have gone with all season. A 25 man lineup that won more games than anyone else in MLB. We won we thought we wouldn’t, and lost when we thought we would win. Put ’em out there and everything SHOULD be ok. Everything being equal, we SHOULD take 2/3 from boston.

Angel Pitching, Angel Defense - get past that.

Angel Pitching, Angel Defense - get past that.

As mentioned a few times already, it comes down to...

attitude.

“We Take No Mess” should be plastered all over the clubhouse. The players need to have the attitude that “This is our house, and we’re not going to be beat by anyone”

Have some swagger. Bravado. “If you even look at us wrong, we’re going to bitch-slap you”

I was uncool before uncool was cool.

by WiHaloFan on Oct 3, 2008 5:23 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

absolutely.

we need to grab the bull by the horns and show the chowder heads whats up! we had the best record in baseball. we took 8 of 9 from them in the regular season. those other years are in the past. this is a new year and a new playoffs.

we must protect this house! (click, clack)

Red Sox, we're comin!

What needs to change for me is ..........

The future batting title champ known to some as HK needs to step up and step out. He needs to do something offensively! This is the big stage with a national audience. You have almost 1000 plate appereances in the Show……now show up.

Not saying it all falls on him at all just saying that there needs to be others that contribute to the playoff success. Can’t sit and wait for the middle of the lineup to get it done all the time.

You are correct

Wht we have lacked the last couple of playoff appearances is the guys producing with out the big names. The Howies, Figgys, Naps/Mathis etc et etc.

The teams that win get the contribution from guys you dont expect…we need that now….a la Adam Kennedy, Spezio, Ersty …

Someone needs to step up when not expected to

Could be work, could be baseball...but I got Spring Fever!!!!!
