My Rant for the Year
I got so tired of the negativity from so-called fans that I haven't read, watched or listened to ANYTHING about the Angels until today.
There was nothing more disgusting than watching flocks of "fans" streaming to the exits when the Angels were down 2-1. Then to read "fans" post that the team was done (Not just here - but other web sites) just put me over the top.
As a long-time Angel fan of 30 years (I'm 35) - I remember going to see the Halos in a stadium with 14,000 of my closest friends.
But we came early, stayed the entire game - knew when to get up, go get food and return to our seats (NOT during play).
Most of all, we loved the Angels not because they were winners, but because win or lose (mostly lose), they were OUR team.
It's great that so many people claim to be Angels fans because their money helps pay for guys like Vlad, Lackey, Hunter and hopefully Tex -
But it's sad that so many of them lack the passion to stick with the team through the good AND the bad.
There's my rant . I hope everyone will join me - For the ENTIRE game - of "Let's Go Angels!"
This Fan-Post is authored by an independent fan. Tell us what you think and how you feel.

i HATE IT when people leave early
it’s ridiculous and shows absolutely no heart.
with this series – as it’s been said before, tonight is a must win. period. if the Angels fail to win tonight, i’m afraid the season may be over. that’s not “jumping off the bandwagon” or anything like that, it’s just reality. they’ll have an amazingly hard time beating Boston 3 times in a row, with 2 in Fenway.
Kotch would've had that.

I was at the game
and I didn’t see anyone leave early when it was 2-1. When the game got a little out of hand some left, but not when it was 2-1.
The atmosphere was terrible though…it did not feel like the playoffs at all. Also, the numbers of Red Sox fans was way down from previous times that the BoSox have been at the stadium.

I was in 504...
and TONS of people left when it was only 2-1, as it came dangerously close to my 9:30 threshold for weak early-exiting fans. And it was 100% people wearing Angels gear. Some Red Sox fans in front of me gave me hell for that, too. I mentioned that I was not leaving.

agree with you... i was in 431..
the only time i saw people, not a bunch, but some leave was after shields gave up the runs in the 9th. the fans were noisy the entire game even after the HR .. just one batter later when tex made a good stop … i hate seeing fans leave early as much as the next guy but halo fans were not guilty of it wed. night. i think the atmosphere though was just fine… my personal high was watching rod throw the 1st pitch out to GA that was pretty cool

I think I've told this story before...
but her it is again.
I used to live just a couple miles from the stadium and would listen to the game on the radio. At the top of the 7th I’d jump in my car, drive right up to the front of the stadium, walk in the open gates and have my pick of seats right behind the plate. I saw some of the best baseball, two innngs at a time.
I was uncool before uncool was cool.

Well stated
To those fans leaving early, screw you! You obviously aren’t fans, but had the money to spend so that you could say that you went to a playoff game. Tonight is a near must win for us, and I don’t think the Angels will disappoint tonight.
Hooters anyone?

Blind Faith....
I admire your resolve and the devotion to the Angels. Let’s hope the Halos give us a reason to cheer… to stay the whole game… tonight ! …Angels win tonight and you’ll hear the crowd.
As we know, the rabid fans in Fenway await the series on Sunday night !!

Watching the fans leave last night reminded me of my childhood days at Dodger Stadium
Embarrassing.

So you use to be a Dodger fan?
That is the embarrassing part!

It reminded me of typical behavior at Anaheim Stadium...
It has always been the norm until 2002. Weekday’s still have that effect, but a Friday or Saturday night game, people most likely won’t be leaving. Especially if there are fireworks shows scheduled.
The phenomena is known as the 9:30 rule where 9:30 plus or minus 15 minutes and the end of an Angels at-bat clears the house. The Red Sox domination led to that happening during a playoff game, as that should not have happened.
I never leave, unless my kids are with me and whining.

More irritating to me is ...
knowing when to cheer and when not to cheer. And if you are cheering at a time when you have not been told to cheer by the scoreboard, people look at you like you are an idiot. Then, the scoreboard suddenly tells them to cheer and THAT IS THE MOMENT when they start to join me in cheering. Duh.

I would say it is a case of the Angel Fans reacting
to their broken hearts. Those that don’t react are those that don’t care enough. Its those that say oh well there is another game tomorrow that don’t truly understand that a loyal fan is one that will live and die with each game played……especially when its playoff baseball.
One of the all time great nicknames for a baseball team is “Dem Bums”. That was given by the fans because of the continued heartbreak. So now that Wed. game is over and many of us have vented about that lack luster effort that was given in game 1 lets get loud and root and cheer for OUR team!

True, some people just don't have enough experience with heartbreak
and therefore react badly.
Go Angels.
If GA wasn't so Lazy, I'd have something clever here.

1986 happened, 2002 made 86 a forgotten heartbreak...
I can never get as down as I was in 1986 ever again. It won’t happen. I’ve been to the mountaintop and it is beautiful.

Lately, in my more cynical moments,
I’ve been wondering if 2002 was a cruel joke played on us long-suffering fans by the baseball gods.

Tell that to Cub fans. There's a lot they would trade for that "cruel joke".
2002 was a magical year. This one can still match/exceed 2002. Keep the seat belt fastened until the ride is over.

I will be there
for every out tonight. I hate it when people leave early as well. Do you have no faith? Spending an extra half an hour in traffic is well worth the chance of a comeback, I guarantee you.

Indeed
I won’t be there—will be in an LA bar for a good portion, likely surrounded by Chowds—but fingers crossed!

If you're going to be in a bar with a bunch of Chowds...
…I’d hope you could think of something better to do with the middle finger than to cross it with your index finger.
Just suggesting….

Well of course
But if I actually punch a Chowd, a different kind of Bar is always watching…

im sure you could get one of the HH legal members
to take your case pro bono for punching a chowd

Don't punch...
they and the game are not worth it.
Let the team’s actions speak for themselves and STAY HUMBLE.
I was at the Vlad 9-RBI night against the Red Sox in 2004. What a magical night to be at the park. I am hoping for that kind of outburst from our Dominican Hurricane, Vladimir Guerrero. May he put the Red in the Sox.
