I was not alive to see Mickey Mantle hit...

but I am ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE there is NO way J.D. Drew has “Mickey Mantle-like power”.

Angels philosophy of baseball not built for postseason

discuss
(I know it ain’t over, but it’s hard to argue with the results outside of 2002)

as if Boston fans need more ammunition for their insufferable egos… ugh.

but Boston still limiting the damage they can do.

only 1 XBH in what, 20 hits?

nobody driving the ball, nobody hitting with RISP.

just a joke.

by gdog009 on Oct 3, 2008 10:36 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

which again goes to the Hatcher debate.

i totally agree with you, but at least our middle-of-the-order guys are hitting.

not enough.

same old crap.

This team hit more homers in the regular season than the 2002 team

In what way are we somehow not built to hit them in the postseason?

by UCIHalo on Oct 3, 2008 10:49 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

who gives a rip what they do in the regular season

my point is regarding Postseason play.

seriously, please don’t be so dense and get some ice for your shoulder from patting yourself on the back.

load the spaceship with the rocket fuel... load it with the warriors...

by gdog009 on Oct 3, 2008 10:52 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Your point is retarded.

I can’t help it that stating this fact bothers you.

~Till the Halo burns out...

by Zu Long on Oct 3, 2008 10:55 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

stats don't lie Zu

as much as you want to spin them, there’s an OBVIOUS glaring issue in postseason play/production that you are ignoring here.

how do you account for this and the consistency of it’s appearing?

load the spaceship with the rocket fuel... load it with the warriors...

by gdog009 on Oct 3, 2008 10:58 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

also - we don't face Texas, Seattle, etc. in postseason.

by gdog009 on Oct 3, 2008 11:05 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

You brought it back up with the Seattle comment.

We beat everybody in the regular season, not just the bad teams in our division.

Winning in the regular season is a necessary first step to winning in the post-season. I’m just happy we’ve finally mastered step one. Step two will hopefully come with time. Preferably faster than we are currently doing it of course.

~Till the Halo burns out...

by Zu Long on Oct 3, 2008 11:10 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

I was referring more specifically to reg season HRs/XBH's

i guess i needed to spell it out more clearly…

Zu, are you going to school to be a lawyer?

I’m too tired and upset to continue, if only these arguments could score us more runs.

have a good night.

load the spaceship with the rocket fuel... load it with the warriors...

by gdog009 on Oct 3, 2008 11:13 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Dude, the regular season XBH/HR didn't just come against them either

And not a lawyer, just a guy sick and tired of the cliff-jumping that takes place here after every loss.

~Till the Halo burns out...

by Zu Long on Oct 3, 2008 11:16 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

understood - granted

and I’m just tired of us sucking in the postseason, looking like a bunch of slap judy hitters after showing otherwise in the regular season. it’s not the first time its happened and it just bugs the crap out of me because I’m impatient and want to win now and beat the flippin Bostards brains in.

that is all.

load the spaceship with the rocket fuel... load it with the warriors...

by gdog009 on Oct 4, 2008 8:12 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

1.Small sample size.

We’ve been homerless for what, 7 games now? That’s really not all that long.

2. I agree more with people later in this topic who talked about how tense some of our guys are. I would also agree that Hatcher is a crappy hitting coach. But saying that we aren’t built for power when we have 4 guys with 20 or more homers on our roster is ridiculous. We got Tex specifically FOR that purpose.

~Till the Halo burns out...

by Zu Long on Oct 3, 2008 10:39 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

but still only singles...

it doesn’t matter – the whole approach goes out the window and has been rendered powerless because nobody can effectively hit postseason pitching on this team when it matters.

load the spaceship with the rocket fuel... load it with the warriors...

by gdog009 on Oct 3, 2008 10:35 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

can we officially FIRE HATCHER now?!

kinda joking, but discuss!

no, but....

that’s pretty obvious

not the time to be pressing…162 games and we now squeeze the bat too freaking tight??

goes back to the lack of playing time before the series started
