It's more then just this next Game
First of all, Boston isn't that Great ....Our #1,6,7,8 and 9 hitters are just that bad... at least right now they are.
Mr. Unclutch "Kendrick" needs to sit down, and Scioscia Needs to play Izzy. (Just my opinion on that.)
It's not like they are blowing the angels out or just pounding our pitching. Both games have basically been won on one or two mistakes by Angel pitching. Lackeys elevated fastball to Bay, and Sanata's ridiculous 3 consecutive breaking balls to Drew (not sure who to blame that on, Santana or Mathis). He finally started mixing up his pitches a little better in the 3rd inning.
I won't comment on F-Bomb... I mean K-Rod.
But all in all, we have been in each one of the games. Anderson, Tex, Vlade, and Hunter have done a good job. It's the other 5 hitters that are getting owned.
The Angels won't have an easier time with Becket on the mound either. But it IS doable. We can beat just about any team if we start playing baseball how we have the entire season. We need to win. It's not just about this season. It's about next season as well.
Because here is the Sad Truth......... The Dodgers Just Swept the Cubs and will probably take on Philly, beat them and make it to the Series. That Alone Breaks My Heart! I Hate The Dodgers just as much as I hate Boston and the W.Sox. If the Dodgers do make the series and win, our fan base is going to drop. Because lets face it.. There are a ton of bandwagon fans who jump on board with winning teams in this town (Just look at all the celebs at the Dodger game last night). If fan attendance drops, we won't have the resources in the coming years to put together a winning squad. Don't get me wrong, I believe in home-grown talent, but we don't have any Tex's or Hunters in the minors that can produce for us now. There needs to be a balance, and we stand to lose a lot right now. Just on this one series.
If we get swept, we are losers, and the Dodgers are the toast of the town.. Expecially with Manny. And they regain control of our major market. I know we have loyal fans like you and I. But this aint Boston or New York we are in. This is southern Cali where it's hip to be a winner.
So in my opinion, We NEED to win this series. It's always been an uphill battle with the Dodgers for Market Share and unless we prove we are winners.... Moreno's pockets won't be that deep.

Why care about the Dodgers?
We’ve got to take care of our own bidness, full stop.

Celebs?
Have there ever been any at the big A? My co-worker, hardcore Brooklyn Smurfs fan, was sitting next to one of those female celebutards at a recent game, and I can’t for the life of me think of a celebrity Halos fan… which is off point…
I don’t think that being an Angels fan is something easily taken up. Being a Dodger fan is easly – painfully easy. Being an Angels fan is something that takes gumption; the willingness to stand up against jokes, mockery, scorn, ridicule, negligence of the press and dismissal by sportswriters.
I was in Humboldt county during Game Two. I was on vacation. I was in a rinky-dink bar and grill occupied by people who were in general more interested in whatever bumf*ck football game was on monitor one than the playoff game on monitor two. On the other side of the bar was one lone chap wearing a red Angels cap. I wanted to hug the bastard.
What I’m saying is that we are not a nationally fashionable franchise – we are an amalgam of freaks who are drawn to this idiosyncratic expansion team and who are not willing to settle for some easily excepted team that doesn’t set our hearts and passions on fire.
I’d rather be a losing Halo fan than a celebrating Dodgers Douche or B for Bandwagoner.
And I think that most people who are with us this year will be with us next year. Maybe it’s the hooch talking, but I think part of me at least is making sense.

What a jerk.
I’d go sit in there and fight for HR balls.

I saw Robert Wuhl (Arliss/Larry from Bull Durham) in the stands for game 2...
not sure if he was cheering for us or Boston though. I think he’s originally from Jersey, so I wouldn’t think he’s a Red Sox fan.

Great post and totally agree with you
It takes a certain character to like a team like the Angels. The Angels are virtually anonymous as far as the national and local media (The Orange County Register and 830 AM excluded) are concerned since they are so biased toward their beloved Dodgers while they at best feign interest in the Angels. You get crap from other fans because the Angels don’t have an extensive history or national following like the Yankees, Cubs, or Red Sox. You hear cliches about most of the Angels fans being bandwagon fans or not being knowledgeable about baseball when in reality a great percentage of the Red Sox, Yankee, and Dodger fans aren’t true baseball fans at all and just follow those teams because everyone else is and it’s the “cool and fashionable” thing to do.
As far as the Dodgers go, It’s easy to root for the team that the local media loves, the team that many of your friends and coworkers love, the team that is closer to Hollywood, the team that evidently now has the stars that go out and support them, and the team that has many fans that mercilessly ridicule you for loving the less stylish Angels.
To be an Angels fan you really have to love your team and be thick-skinned with all the bashing and lack of recognition that your team gets, but that’s part of the charm of the Angels. We love our team while many Dodger, Yankee, and Red Sox “fans” love the approval they get from others more than anything when they are seen wearing their pink Sox hat, Manny jersey, or Jeter jersey.
