Hell Yeah!
Pretty stupid that it took us more than twice the amount of hits to get the same amount of runs. (Remember we walked in a run).
Still, hope?

Naps has always been my favorit Catcher since he came up, I've been arguing with my brother
that Martin’s Power is NO WHERE NEAR Napoli’s Power. Like I told Naps at Fan Fest, “I belive you will hit 44 HR’s in the Bigs SOON.” Thats if Sciosca give’s him regular starting time.
Morales and Napoli have been two of my Favorit Angels. I still have not worn the Napoli Shirt since he signed it. Probably will put it in a Frame along with his Signed Rookie card.

Walking Ortiz in extra innings with the game on the line

Im Sorry but he is the only one that has a Hit that Plays RF. Than and He is 1 out of 2 that have hits against PimpleBon on our Roster. Rivera Walked today and Friday but that aint cutting it. Also I want him batting behind Hunter NOT Howie. Howie has choked 1 to many times with RISP.

Angels are confident now which spells trouble for the Sox
If the Red Sox are going to beat the Angels, they are going to have play a lot better than they have the last 2 games. They know that they are lucky to be in the position they are in thanks to bad defense and a bunch of RISP by the Angels.

ALDS Game 3 ’02 (big comeback at home against the Yankees)
ALCS Game 5 ’02 (Kennedy’s 3 jacks)
all are better I think

by UCIHalo on Oct 5, 2008 10:24 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Well, it depends how detailed you want
It’s 1:30 AM here, but let’s give it a shot.
I got there wearing just an Angels sweatshirt and my hat, since wearing a jersey there usually leads to ruined jerseys. I sat next to a pole which really obscured my view, so my friend and I moved down a row next to some longtime season ticket holders. These guys were worthwhile fans, asking me about who the hell Jose Arredondo is, and why in god’s name is Scioscia planning on bringing in K-Rod. On my other side, basically everywhere else, I was surrounded by idiot fans whose best cheer was “Hey Saunders…you suck!”
The place was really loud, particularly when Papelbon was in, or when Torii and Howie both missed that damn pop fly. Contrast that to the complete lack of noise when Napoli did his thing, and Aybar. Absolutely awesome.
Weaver for closer?

We just got that enormous weight that’s been on our backs and shrugged it the hell off.
We roped their Ace tonight!
So many of our guys came up HUGE!!
Mike Napoli is a GIANT.
HK was driving the ball!
The midle of the lineup is on fire!
Saunders was fantastic
Erick Aybar comes up enormous!
How about my little Jarrod Weaver! An AWESOME performance!
Figgy was key on both sides of the line tonight!
Oliver, Shields, Frankie, Arredondo all were clutch!
We made one bad mistake and we were looking like underachievers out there. Then, we showed what we are made of. Piss and Vinegar!
I believe!

I've always liked Saunders
Ever since he came up he’s been underestimated. He’s a damn fine pitcher with a great attitude and amazing composure. He may not have overpowering stuff, but he’s been getting it done from the moment he first stepped on a mound for the Angels.

Howie turned the corner as well tonight!
When that error happened i honestly felt like our season had slipped away, and i was thinking how horrible Howie’s winter was gonna be.
But then he came back in the ballgame and got a couple of big hits! He really nutted it up in the second half of this ballgame, and I’m thinking that right now he can’t wait for tomorrow night to get going because he’s off the schneid now.

just plain fear. he has a TERRIBLE history against the Sox.

I mean, he just doesn’t have the same stuff that he had. And he’s not confident with the stuff he does have. To be fair, he did get kinda squeezed, but he still looked very shaky.

Do you realize that tonight…..I said….for the first time all post season…
“Howie is one for his last one at bat….”
“Howie is two for his last two at bats.”

Calling those 3 Boston Runs Earned is ridiculous.
You look at the bog score and it looks like The Colonel stunk up the joint. When in reality he sacked up BIG TIME.

It goes as a hit nobody missed it physicaly
errors are not given because of mental lapses only physical errors make it in the box score

Yeah..but there's no such thing
as a team error, even though there should be. Saunders was good, but he wasn’t lights out. I mean, he still walked 4 guys.
He pitched a gutsy game and got hosed by that play. Still, he wasn’t even going to get through 6 innings at the rate he was going.

I put on my jersey. I put on my cap.
I’m not that type of fan. The one who sits in his apartment wearing the gear and roots for the team. But tonight, I pulled it all out. I sat down in front of this TV set, laptop near me for some data reduction. I hoped.
The game was excruciating at points. That three-run single hurt. The fact that the Angels never could get that clutch hit? That ached. What surprised me was how ballsy our pitchers were. Joe was a picture of calm out on the mound. Jose came in and did the job he needed to do. Scot’s pitches danced into the strike zone. Even Frankie got the necessary outs. I was honestly not really sold on the decision to plunk poor Jered Weaver onto the mound there in the bottom of the 11th. But his decision, in hindsight, was inspired. Jason Bay had never seen him! Do you remember when Weaver first burst on the scene, and that sneaky delivery fooled so many hitters? Jason Bay got his first taste to night, and it was bitter.
Napoli was our hero tonight, for sure. I wish that Torii would remember how to run. I wish that Howie would remember what a double is. I wish a lot of things. But even through the bungling, we pulled out the most important win of the entire season.
Whatever happens tomorrow, happens. No matter where we go, there we are. I like our chances. I like this team. Sometimes I question their play, but I am still a fan. I’ll see you all for Game Four.

How about Figgins defense there late in the game and his three hits that really set the tone for the game

figgy was great
and i think he got robbed in the first by some bad fan interference, but thats neither here nor there

yeah, great D from him
2 great plays in extras when we really needed it.
and both of those shots (when coming off the bat) made my heart skip a beat.

Gee… I seem to recall 8.1 innings of no hit ball earlier this summer, but obviously I’m wrong and the RedSux and the Doyers are the greatest thing ever

Watched this one at the in-laws
Not the prettiest win, heck, this was shaping up to be the most frustrating game ever … but as I was saying to my family … AYBAR IS DUE!
Napoli was a beast … a fricken BEAST!
The pitchers did great. Saunders got did in by some bad defense, but how about that bullpen! Great effing job in that pos park.
Just wait until the team puts together a few hits with risp. They won’t be fooled by Lester’s movement tomorrow … one game at a time!

Hatchers Hackers………….. Hackers just swing away at anything
Need to show patience and if he is throwing strikes jump that first hittable fastball. That will make him nibble. Be nice to grab that early lead as well

but they seemed to patient (and jittery) in Game 1, IMO.
if they see a good pitch, then they need to jump on it. that’s something they failed to do last Wednesday

The thing is tonight was a complete Angel TEAM win!
Everybody, I mean everybody chipped in tonight.
This is how our manager preaches it, and this is how it went down tonight.
Our team pulled through when things looked very dark indeed.
We showed some major stones tonight.
