Superstitions...lets have some fun

Alright folks, what a game we played yesterday. Let's face it we gave the chowda heads 4 gift runs, and we still came out on Top with the victory and the privledge to play another game.

The streaks have been broken:

1. 69 Playoff inning without a Homerun has ended

2. Vlad's lack of the extra base hit has ended

3. Howies Sucktitude and the plate came to an end

4. Aybar got a hit

5. We beat Boston finally in the postseason

6. GA finally got a hit again

7. The only thing that didn't end is GMJ still sucks, but if called upon tonight he is going to do something special whether he gets the start or he comes in late in the game. His time is now to step and make something happen

Alright I am sure all of you have superstitions for a big game. What did you do for yesteredays game that makes you superstitous. Did you alter your routine, Wear a special jersey, wear your underwear backwars.

What did you do that you think helped the team win:

I will go first:

1. I made all the beds in my house when I woke up yesterday (my daughters, my son and where the magic takes place...my bed)

2. I put out 5 Rally Monkeys all over the family room, where I watched the game

3. I wore the same red Nike Golf shirt (no Angel logo) and Red Golf Hat (no Angel Logo) that my dog ate half off back in 2002. This is the exact clothers I wore throughout the 2002 playoffs.

4. Took my dog on walk in the same route as I did before game 3

I p237 believe

YES WE CAN

YES WE CAN

I get pretty bad during games

I didn’t let someone hand me a bowl of chex mix until the inning was over because the Angels were doing well.

I had two Thunderstix from Friday’s game and I kept both in my hands for defensive innings and one for offensive innings. It worked.

Also, my kids didn’t wear their Angel gear yesterday (while they did the previous two game days) so they’re not going to today either.

I feel the need, the need...for speed!

I said this in another post...

but I wore my Rod Carew throwback jersey for the first time since I wore it at the one game I went to this season. In that game, Figgy hit a walk-off single in the 9th to beat the Yanks.

Red Sox, we're comin!

i sacrificed watching on my plasma from howards

and watched on the smaller, non-HD tv in the bedroom where i could also listen to our radio broadcasters when tbs pissed me off.

Here's what i did, and I waited until the 9th inning to do it...

The hearth in front of my fireplace is large enough to sit on, but at a bad angle to the t.v. It helped the Angels in Game 6 of the ‘02 Series, and I’ve been saving that seat ever since. I don’t use it often, don’t want to waste it’s magic powers. I missed game 2 of this series because i was out, but saved that special seat for game 3, if needed. It helped K-Rod get out of the jam, and i stayed there for the remainder of the game… so, that’s where I’ll be from the get-go tonight, right on the fireplace, at a 45 degree angle to the t.v.

Hooters anyone?

i was actually here for the whole game

i only saw parts of the last 2.

i wore nothing with Angels logos… Hard Rock Cafe shirt (from Dubai… weird) and jeans.

OH! and after Weaver walked Ortiz in the 12th, i hung up with my girlfriend, who i had not been talking to earlier in the game. that seemed to work, too

Kotch would've had that.

I'm sporting the same red non Angels shirt I wore all day yesterday,

same socks, same shoes, same belt, and same underwear….non washed of course. When the game starts today I’ll top off my magical outfit with my Vlad jersey which I had not even touched since the time it contributed to a playoff loss to the red sucks in 04…. but it reversed the curse yesterday when I put in on right before Nipples blasted his first HR. Go Halos!!!!

Wow have you been spying on me

Because as of right now I’m doing the exact same thing, same exact types of clothes and whatnot and with the same kind of mindset, except I NEVER WEAR MY ANGELS HAT DURING A GAME and last night I did, and now I refuse to take it off. Go Halos!

it smells but, it works. i’ll be wearing her tonight

Still, I wish I was here

My favorite part

is that you refer to your hat as “her.” That’s awesome.

Wearing Grandpa's watch

He’s the one that made me an Angel fan.

by Doctor Wu on Oct 6, 2008 1:01 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I wore the same jersey, t-shirt, and cap...

that I wore to game 7 of the ’02 series. The hat hardly fits anymore due to the shrinkage that occurerd when the beer was poured over it in celebration.

I also pulled out a souvenir cup that I got at that game, and drank a beer from it for every extra inning.

I will be wearing the same gear this evening, as well as drinking from the aforementioned stein in the event of another extra innings performance. Go Halos!

My superstition

I didn’t watch. I didn’t listen. I didn’t wear red.

Gotta do that again tonite, painful though it may be.

I tried the same

but I couldn’t help myself from switching to TBS….or gameday….or HH for an update. I’m going to wear red before the game and switch out when the game starts to avoid giving any of my bad luck to the Halos

that’s right, you were MIA. do it for the team man.

I left it alone yesterday playing a hunch.

I watched the game, but just didn’t come here. Seems like it worked, so don’t expect too many more vicious game thread arguments from me for the remainder of the series.

I think this stuff is pretty ridiculous, but fun

In 2002 I was at a buddy’s house for Game 6, drinking and playing music over the shitty announcers. Computer playlist of 10,000 songs on shuffle and right in the middle of Spezio’s at bat “Eye of the Tiger” starts. Spezio goes yard, I run over and hit “repeat” and we listen to it over and over again until the last out.

I was so drunk and fired up I started running in circles and sliding in front of the TV.

No superstitions. I probably need some though...

because the last 2 games have been so tense. Maybe I would have more of a sense of security.
They just didn’t seem to work before, so I gave up on doing anything superstitious (I am an Angel fan going back to late 60’s, and remember ’79, ’82, and ’86 too well).

Back to pacing and a pounding head in about 2 hours or so…

Lot's of things

I entered the game thread, and The Clyde doesn’t do game threads. Wore my chonies backwards (accidentally).

Quit shaving as long as they win. Had to go to my white collar gig scruffy.

The advantage of my superstition

Is that I also don’t see the “Frank TV” ads.

Throughout the end of the '02 season and playoffs, I had a rally monkey hanging in my bedroom closet facing a TV with the game on while I watched downstairs.

I quit doing this in ‘03 when it became clear to me that this was no longer effective in producing Angel wins. And I haven’t come up with anything new to try since, leaving it only up to the team to produce wins.

Oh, and I only bought that rally monkey because I was at a game that year where we down and I declared I’d buy a rally monkey if we came back to win it. We did and I ended up having to buy it online the next day, as the souvenir stands were closed and the shop was too crowded after the game. I had to make sure I kept up my end of the bargain.

After Fridays loss

I threw my monkey across the other side of the room, where he laid face down for the duration of last nights game. Sadly, he will be watching from the same vantage point tonight!

Pleeeeazzzzzzze Frankie, close the games, don't make them closer!

I made quiche (I'm a girl, get over it) and had a rally beer early

leftovers tonite and the beer is in the fridge waiting for the start of the game.

I then wrapped the kids in duct tape in a clockwise motion exactly 3 times (for each win we need) and then shoved them in the closet so I could watch the game in peace.

yeah, heaven baby!!

(ok, I was kidding about the kids part)
