Howie Kendrick
Sucks Donkey Dick...
Howie not only cost us with his bat, I would tell you how many guys he LOB, but I cant even count that high...But they say if you suck at the plate, at least save some runs with your defense...Well jackass cost is 5 runs in the last two games, both elimination games... 3 last night and 2 tonight when he didn't turn the routined double play on Ellsbury...
All in all he sucks and is a total liability....did I mention he sucks...
Beyond that shitty squeeze play that everyone and their mother knew we were going to try I hang this series on Kendrick and his inability to do anything...give him a Red Sox jersey!
BTW Howie Suck

yeah yeah
this guy’s a total tool. let’s trade him for a bag of balls. what a douche bag. get the hell of the team, Howie!
geez… get off it, band wagoner. the TEAM lost. the Red Sox didn’t play and beat Howie Kendrick, they beat the Los Angeles Angels. we’re an effing team. we win as a team, and we lose as a team.
Kotch would've had that.

Way to come to the aid of your guy
I expect nothing less from you, but I also saw your post and thoughts about him a few times during the series.
He was god awful my friend. He was a liability on D and at the plate. He froze a few times on the field and looked so so bad at the dish. He swung at shit 3 feet out of the zone. Howie left a crap load of runners on base (scoring position)
Not sure if we could get a bag of balls for him right now…………

you knew it was going to happen =D
i know how bad he was. i was watching the series, same as everyone else.
if you saw my posts/thoughts, then you know why I THINK he was the way he was. honestly, i think the pressure got to him this time. he seemed WAY uncomfortable in every aspect of the game, and shouldn’t have been out there in Game 3.
BUT people need to lay off, man. Everybody’s acting like he’s the worst player imaginable and never was worth anything. This guys is NOT all talked up (like Willits).. he’s got skills and he knows how to use them. All that was needed was for him to get into a groove, but unfortunately, that never happened.
Excuse me for not jumping off the Kendrick band wagon after one bad series.
Kotch would've had that.

No need to ask for forgivness
I respect you for coming to the aid of HK. He needs some sort of help from someone. Me I think he can hit but I have never been a fan because of his knack for the DL. He was not ready for this series at all. He was way out of wack!
He is not the worst player that has always been a battle for GMJ and that midget Billy Idol facial expression no HR in the big player R. “Willts” Willits. Cant stand him.

but yeah… there was no reason for him to be in this series. I know what the Soth was trying to do, but it was just not a good idea.

Hey, Morales did something to help us win and Scioscia said F-U K-Mo.......
But Ya Howie KICKS ASS but should not have been playing today, Wood should have been at 3B, Aybar at SS, and Figgins at 2B.
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

they both missed more time but their experience in previous post seasons i’m sure was a help vs. a detriment for this current playoff.
i dont think howie was ready both physically and mentally…more the latter obviously.

True we win and loose as a team
And I usally agree with you, but Howie made enough mistakes in this series that it didn’t allow for any other member of the team to make a mistake…and oh boy did he make mistakes…
I though Howie had a lot of potential, but I am going to be interested to see if he can mentally bounce back from this series. How will he be affected next year if we make the playoffs…will this haunt him? God I hope not….
I speak the truth and point out the weakest link of any team. For this series Howiesthman the weakest link was your man Howie…….

yes Howie sucked
but he’s in an organization that has no clue about plate discipline and it’s not like all the veterans around him got man clutch hits. Mickey Hatcher of all people was saying how Tex was rubbing off on the team being more selective like he has no say in the matter.
BTW, on the ball Howie missed, no one would ever turn too on that. Ellsbury is fast and it wasn’t hit hard. He had to charge it.

Bottom line
is Kendrick never learned to take a walk. They finally figured out the holes in his swing at the major league level, and voila, instant suck. This process did not happen overnight. It was ongoing, but partly masked by his injuries.

Turning two
maybe they dont turn two, but at least he gets the the runner going into second. Which means that run doesn’t score when Pedroia dented the monster. We get out of that inning with only one run scored… that is why I say his error again cost is two runs!

that's assuming ellsbury wouldnt have been on the move on the pitch, or able to score outright.
ellsbury flies, that ball took a weird ricochet off the wall, so i would guess with anderson + aybar combining on the throw, ellsbury makes it home safely.

Not a chance
There is no chance that he scores on that ball hit off the wall. Its 310 down the line and the ball was to left easy relay home.

no chance?
if a runner can score from 1st on a pop up to shallow center, ellsbury certainly had a chance to score on that double. 2 outs, you push for the extra run imo. saying not a chance just allows you to keep pounding on kendrick.

2 different situations
High Flyball that falls with runners running on a 3-2 pitch.
This situation is not even close as he had to run 270 feet around the bases and GA had no trouble with playing it off the wall. Aybar has a strong arm as well so not sure why Anderson + Aybar on a ball hit to left scores a runner from first.
You saying he scores anyways is your way of sticking up for HK if your accusing me of using it as a way to pound on him.

If he is running on the play there is a chance. If Anderson or Aybar make a bad throw, there is a chance.
So you can excuse me for thinking you want to blame Howie outright, by ignoring the possibility that the fastest runner on either team would be trying to steal second against Napoli’s limp arm. Or that it would be possible for Eybar or Lazy A to make a bad or uninspired throw.

Just don't think the 3rd base coach wheels him from 1st thats my tthought
Lazy G made a good throw to second on the play. That left field fence at Fenway is so close. Have you been there and seen just how close? There is many a times a runner from 2nd doesn’t score on a hard hit to left. Just don’t see him getting the windmill there.

If we are going to call players out, let's call out everyone
Figgins – o walks, 6 strikeouts, while getting on base .294
anderson – 1 walk, 4 strikeouts, 1 dropped fly ball, and going 3/19
hunter – while he did succeed with risp more than anyone else, he also left 12 on base too. no xbh
teixeira – no xbh, 0/3 risp
vlad – 1 xbh, horrible baserunning gaffe, 0/2 risp, no rbi
howie – we already know
aybar – 1 hit, a game winner, errors, can’t bunt, etc
napoli – good offense in game 3, but 0fer in every other game. questionable pitch calls (bay getting fastballs)
gmj – we know you suck
willits – not your fault you didn;t think about keeping that a single, you are just a journeyman aaa player. nice drop in anaheim
rivera – 1 hit … no range … lots left on base too
mathis – hey, you got a bloop hit and didn’t make any errors.
shields – you were tired … but dont throw bay 2 fastballs in a row, even if napoli calls for it. you can shake
frankie – a changeup should be more than 3 mph slower than your fastball … try not throwing it 5 times in a row
lackey, saunders, ervin – with these hitters, I don’t know how you can be confident on the mound
scioscia – that’s an embarrassing way to lose. since our lefty is still fresh in the bullpen, i think you should use him in tomorrow’s game to face the two lefties who will be batting with a runner on 2nd in the 9th. good thinking. gmj will be fresh to roam right field, and maybe use his strong arm for something.

Game built upon who fails least
Figgins- .333 / .333 / .476 hits in 3 of 4 games had a 2B SB and a huge 3B
Anderson- Another case of pink eye, but no dropped ball in LF
Hunter- .389 / .421 / .389 Showed up in a big with the clutch hits, all runners left on base are not runners left in scoring position
Tex- Red Sox were not going to get beat by his bat. .467 / .550 / .467 leading team in runs scored while walking 4 times….Hmmm…..walks score? How about that Hatcher
Vlad- See Tex comment, also walked 4 times (miracle) .467 / .579 / .533
Howi"e"- .118 / .118 / .118 AWFUL TERRIBLE , Defensively just as AWFUL, TERRIBLE, Some may say he did not have a chance to turn the double play in the 5th, but if he fields it cleanly Capitan Catcher is forced at 2B and the double by Pissdroia doesn’t plate a run! No error on Howie but what a gaffe (again)
Aybar- .111 / .111 / .111 super series all away around
Napoli- .250 / .400 / .750 exactly what you thought you would get from him, high OBP also getting a walk and RBI in game 2
GMJ- You Sux!
Willits- Great defensive replacement player worked well in game 2 and 4
Rivera - .125 / .364 / .125 swinging on 3-0 pitch what the F*^k
Mathis- Why not share that lucky horseshoe you have firmly wedged up your ass that has allowed you to play a whole season in the big leagues you lucky SOB!……team could have used some luck!!!
Shields- looked like the demons had been lifted…….but not the case…..chimp hit turned into a double by the defensive replacement and a slow roller that your ranging 2B just could get. You were doomed once the ball was hit towards the right side of Tex.
FYouRod- 7.71 ERA with a loss, 2 1/3 innings worked allowing 7 runners (5 hits/ 2 BB/2K) You dominate you rock your the best, I hope your gone
Arredondo- 3 2/3 no runs and 2BB/4 K’s
Weaver- cock solid out of the pen, but then again so hard to pitch that 1 or 2 innings and save a game or shut down a team to allow your club a chance to win. HAHA
Oliver- Once again a solid LHP situational guy
Lackey, Saunders, Ervin- Only if you could have struck everyone out or made them hit it to Figgy and Tex
Scioscia- Why is Howie in the lineup still? Don’t want to hurt his feelings? Why not let the players win or lose the game instead of micromanage the game and calling for a squeeze in that situation? You mention how Aybar didn’t execute the play, yet you were the executioner. The defense is the one that is in a bad situation and the pitcher needs to execute his pitches. Once again that was not allowed to happen. As much as I dislike GMJ he has a better chance of catching that ball against the wall in game 2 then the midget you put in, and the same goes for GM#4 with him being able to extend his reach a little more or the fact that the 5/$10m vet knows to keep that ball in front of him for a single and not go spastic trying to catch a ball he had no chance of catching in the first place

Not quite sure why many have shredded Willits for diving for that ball...?
Watching the replay for the severalth time…I don’t think he could have kept that ball from bouncing into the seats even had he NOT dove for it…fact is, it was a perfectly lobbed grenade that we were “fortunate” that it bounced over the fence! If it didn’t…HR & game over (sooner)!
Whodathunk we would be rooting for a former Ranger come August, er September, er October...? Miss ya Kotch, but Tex is THE man!

howie choked plain and simple. but hey on the bright side hes still 25. id still take him over a lot of other 2nd baseman out there. but, hopefully this gets to him and he works hard this offseason and finally demonstrates his potential. thats all we can wish for as fans. that and him not getting hurt every god damn year
by stezo on Oct 7, 2008 12:00 AM PDT 0 recs
He may be only 25
But what is he made up of mentally? This will determine how much better he gets. If he can’t shake his performance in this post-season how will he play in post-season’s of the future?
He’s already suspect physically with two—and may I add the same leg—hammy strains this season and two stints on the DL last year as well.
I say package him in a trade this off-season (I hate stating this but…).

Dude...
I’ve never advocated trading Vlad, he’s the aging franchise player who’s now a year older, so the ability to get value in return as not as great as HK. How many teams always mention HK in trades, ALL OF THEM. I’ve been a fan since the 1970’s but don’t attach myself emotionally to players or the mounting playoff burnouts—I got all of that out of my system in 1979, 1982 and 1986—but did you see Justin Pedroia’s look on his face compared to HKs? Pedroia was relaxed even though he’d been hitless in the series until his double. The look on HKs face was one of excessive concern and consternation…like he’d literally instead of figuratively sh** in his pants.

I was pretty down on Howie.
Until a Sox fan pointed out to me that Pedroia, the Sox best hitter and in their #2 slot, was pound for pound as piss-poor at the plate as HKKKKKKK. So that aspect of the competition was practically a wash.
Francisco Rodriguez: 2006 to Present: 149 saves. 5 Panthers. As fabulous as Pride, Romero, Gregg, Budde and Dino Ebel combined.

True they were both bad at the plate
The difference was Howie’s defense that cost us at least 5 runs in the series (6 if we want to count him not playing deep enough on the game winning single to knock the ball down and keep Bay from scoring at second)
We could have gotten away with his sucktitude at the plate hd he played good defense and helped the team win with his glove…you gotta play on both sides of the ball!
