Vlad
He looks done to me. It's tempting to decline his option, particularly if the Halos can lock up Tex -- I'd go 8 years, $160 to get him. I'd also let K-Rod walk, re-sign GA for a reduced salary and try to retain Johnny Rivers. This won't be popular, but the Angels should make a play for Manny, if Scoscia can tolerate his antics.
Let Wood play short.
Does anyone know about the progress of Escobar? Is there any realistic chance he'll be back? WIll Adenheart be big-league ready next season.

I don’t agree with that at all…
It will be an intresting offseason, many FA possibilities, looks like a pretty decent bunch this year…Frankie, Manny Ramirez,CC,Tex ,Vlad (possible)Garet Anderson..I know I am missing a few right now, all I would say to you is if Vlad is a free agent there will be many teams after him,and next year if he plays 130 or more games he will hit .300 with 25 hr and 90 rbi…As for Manny replacing Guerrero ,I don’t think Manny will be leaving where he is,if he does its to New Yorn,imo..

I think Vlad just needs some new knees
He’s been putting off getting them cleaned up for a couple seasons now.
Maybe he can take this offseason extension and use it a more rehab time.
If GA wasn't so Lazy, I'd have something clever here.

It's really difficult to give up on Vlad.
His potential upside is freakishly good, as we have seen in years past. 3 concerns though;
1) His numbers were down across the board this year. Hopefully this is not a long term trend. But how can anyone possibly forecast this?
2) I agree with Fiend above. He needs to take care of his knee problems. He appears to be hurting more than ever when he runs. This is probably part of why his numbers are down.
3) His BA, OBP, and OPS were much better this ALDS, but almost no power numbers (0 HR’s, 0 RBI’s, 1 XBH).
So, I wouldn’t give up on him just yet.

Right on the money
I agree with you. Vlad is done, he may fit in as a DH somewhere… but not here. Gotta find a way to sign Teixeira !!!

lets all consider this
would you rather have vlad or matt holliday in 2010?
if teixeira is gone and frankie leaves, the money wont be an issue

For me
I’m not sold on any player that comes from places like Colorado.
Matt Holliday splits
Home – .332 /.413/.584
Away – .308/.405/.486
And we all know that the Big A is not exactly a hitters paradise.

Skeptical of Holliday
Wouldn’t do the move. Too big of a risk signing a big contract for a player coming from hitter friendly Colorado to play in the more pitcher friendly Big A.

Vlad needs offseason surgey
and to play the DH in ’09 as much as GA did in ’08, if not more.
you’ll see the production come back.
Kotch would've had that.

They need Teix and another young slugger, DH Vlad for one year then let him walk
Tori Hunter is a right handed version of Anderson, so no need to have both. The team needs patient guys who can impact the game with one swing, especially if we keep trotting out Figgins, Aybar, and Kendrick in the infield.

i dont think vlad is done...
but i wouldnt re-up him UNTIL he gets some much needed treatment on the knees. and “NO,NO DH” is not gonna fly next season… if vlad wants to help the team out he needs to get the bulk of the DH duties next season

Pick up the option
If Tex somehow resigns and Vlad takes care of the knees, his numbers will at least be around .300 25+homers 90+ RBI’s. Without Tex, Vlad is still at least some sort of threat in the order.

Vlad is a fan favorite and unique player. We are lucky to have him
He will be great for years to come , one “down” year : 303/365/521 27HR 91RBI and people are ready to write him off. He’s only 32. Face of the Angels.
Oh yah 11 seasons of 300/25, That’s awesome!, and he hit 467 in the DS.
