Matt Brown Jazz
Angel / Salt Lake Bee Matt Brown was awarded his Olympic ring prior to Wednesday Night's Utah Jazz home game. Olympian teammate/ Angels/ Bees pitcher Kevin Jepsen must have taste in NBA teams, as he skipped the ceremony.

there's an opening sequence from the movie baseketball
that talks about pro teams moving cities. They made the joke the New Orleans Jazz moved to Salt Lake City…where they dont believe in music.
But kudos to Jespen for making the right call.

Agreed -- nothing jazzy about SLC
This is one scenario where it would make perfect sense for Utah and New Orleans to swap back their team names, especially given the state of Utah’s obsession with all things bee/beehive/hornets/other insects that sting. Or perhaps the Utah franchise could rename themselves to the Snowflakes to reflect the diverse makeup of the state’s population.
Happy Thanksgiving!

nice...
way to play the subliminal race card.
Only pointing it out because:
A. what you said is true about the diverse makeup. &
B. The double standard, that if ever someone said the same or similar thing about ANY population that isn’t white/caucasion would be immediately called a racist.
Now, just to make things clear, I don’t know you & nor do I think what you said is actually racist. I am simply playing an overly sensitive white guy. Which I am not.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
When I'm not at the stadium, I'd rather be watching my Halos back in Costa Rica!

the snowflakes comment i think you can make this case for
but New Orleans was the birthplace of jazz (or at least where it gained its strongest following, and eventually popular culture breakthrough) and the state of Dessert had the beehive as its symbol, so would kinda make sense.
But its also true that Utah is one of the least diverse states in the nation, but surprisingly SLC doesnt really share the rest of the state’s demographics.
I’m not advocating the double standard in racial relations or the way people speak; I think people can say whatever the hell they want and shouldnt really have to worry about it. But there is a reason for the double standard in what you can and cant say about someones racial identity, and the reasoning is at least sound (that doesnt mean its right).

Was just having a little fun -- no racism intended
Having lived in both places, they could not be more different than each other in about every way imaginable, particularly culturally, and I find that hilariously ironic (e.g. the birthplace of Louis Armstrong, Fats Domino, etc. vs. the birthplace of the Osmonds and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir). I also thought the double meaning of snowflake worked well as Utah has awesome snow and skiing/boarding.
I agree that there are different standards for different groups, whether right or wrong, justified or unjustified, which are based on our country’s history. We still have a ways to go, but I am hoping this is the time in which we all can move beyond all of that.

What's with the hating!
Let’s Go Jazz!!!
I realize I am probably the only Angels and Jazz fan but still no need to hate, especially when you will see Jazz give the Lakers a run for their money this year.
I am calling all you Angels!!!

He probably doesn't give a crap about basketball
but rather, he was choosing to be with his family for Thanksgiving somewhere out of town.
