from left to right:
only all star game grand slam, first angels mvp, 500th career home run with angels, 300th career hit with angels.
Nice pic
Go gettem next year, what have we got to lose--Frankie?
Nitpicking for the day: 300th = 3,000th career hit for the man with the smokin' headband
Awesome pic, though. This takes me back to when I first became a Halo fan at the tender age of 5; it was love at first sight.
Thanks for the post, Miss Yothers.

The 1982 Angels team was one of my all-time favorites
That lineup knew something about generating offense. Here’s how the 2008 team compares to 1982.
(AL rankings)
………..1982…2008
Runs__2nd___10th
HRS___2nd__9th
OBP___1st___11th
SLG___2nd___9th
Six guys had an OPS+ of better than 120 during that 1982 season. All of them had plenty of plate appearances, with Fred Lynn having the fewest at 545.
DeCinces 149
Reggie 147
Lynn 143
Downing 132
Grich 125
Carew 121
In contrast, the 2008 team had only one regular with an OPS+ better than 120 (Vlad at 130). Tex had a sensational OPS+ of 180 but had only 234 PAs with the Angels. Napoli was at 147 but had just 274 PAs.

That's why the Angels are going after CC

When I'm not at the stadium, I'd rather be watching my Halos back in Costa Rica!

Those four guys got all the ink...
… while it was Grich, Downing and DeCinces who did the most to win ballgames at the Big A.
Fred Lynn bears a striking resemblance to Larry Dallas of 3's Company

Indeed he does
I also thought Gopher from the Love Boat was a poor man’s Fred Lynn. Maybe it was the hair…

That was an awesome team
Unfortunately, my first Angels memories are of ’86, which was a great team too.
Wow, what a missed opportunity that year, just win one in Milwaukee and we would have been up against the speed demons known as the Cards. That would have been a fun WS to watch. Instead America got fatty Gorman Thomas, Cecil Cooper, and Ted Simmons vs. what was, I think, a not too great Cards team and a pitching staff headed up by Joaquin Andujar.

The resason that picture is SO awesome
most bands have three guitars pointing to the right from righties, but there are three lefties of the four there. Oh well it sounded more awesome before I wrote it out.
It's an awesome early 80s looking pic
Was 1982 the greatest offensive Angels team of all time? It sure looks like it would have been a fun team to watch.
I'm just impressed I knew 3 out of 4.

Well, when I see five weirdos, dressed in togas, stabbing a man in the middle of the park in full view of a hundred people, I shoot the bastards, that's *my* policy!
That was a Shakespeare-In-The-Park production of ‘Julius Caesar,’ you moron! You killed five actors! Good ones!
