CC Sabathia is Going to Be A Yankee
Well, in what might be GREAT news for the Halos, CC Sabathia will sign with the Yankees; so says the New York Post. Now they should be able to sign Tex, however, he is now leaning towards the BoSox.... We'll just have to see if the Halos get shut out of all of the top free agent signings. The best pitcher now on the market is definitely Peavy, however, it looks like he'll go to the Cubs.

Can't help but laugh a little
Ken Rosenthal reports it’s 7/160 for the hefty lefty. The Yankees were forced to bid against themselves for a player who didn’t really want to play against themselves. Considering he wasn’t likely our top priority, you can’t help but crack a smile at that.

Wow, that's a lot of years.
And a shit ton of money to invest in a 28 year old, 300 pound man.

Second fattest pitcher ever
says Dayn Perry. And that’s only going to go up as he ages. He’s listed at 290, the record is 295. And that’s if we believe C.C. isn’t fudging that number as much as he is his ice cream sundaes.

That's 160 million more cheesburgers for CC
Let’s see what he balloons up to in 5 years

Reminds me of this
Lone Starr: A million? That’s unfair.
Pizza the Hutt: Unfair to payor but not to payee. But you’re gonna pay it, or else!
Barf: Or else what?
Pizza the Hutt: Tell him, Vinnie.
Vinnie: Or else pizza is gonna send out for you!

Isn't it frightening that we all can come up with this?
First the Naked Gun, and now Spaceballs – the Flamethrower!
Angels fan since '67
Thats about $550,000 per pound
In all honesty though what does it have to do with anything. The guy did not balloon to the weight he is over night. He has always been a big dude. Lets not for get that he is 6’7" unlike Bartolo “Clown” Colon who is 5’11" and damn near the same weight as CC.

6'7" and 300lbs
is OBESE. And obese on an athlete, long term, is never, EVER a good thing.

In fairness
Sabathia is twice the pitcher Colon was.
No pun intended.

we had better
sign Dunn for either LF or 1b now… Tex will be a red sox. I actually like Dunn at 1b and K mo in the OF

there goes plan B
how much longer until plan C becomes plan A?
this is more of a bummer for me than I expected. I honestly think we were more likely to get CC than Mark, so CC being gone just makes it more likely we get neither
I was really
anxious to see if we got CC yea he might be a sumo wrestler in the off season, but the dude can pitch. I am glad we did not spend that much on him though. Now lets just hope and pray Tex wants to stick around here in the sunshine and not go live over in the arctic. If not well then Dunn and Manny come in the picture and possibly even Peavy so who knows what is going to happen. I just want to see some moves made thats all.
"Throw some CHED!"
Peavy is as good as Cub'd.
Sorry, dude.

Wait wait...why is Teix leaning towards BoSux?
Where did you get that info?
by BryanHarvey'sMoustache on Dec 10, 2008 10:50 AM PST reply actions
it might not matter
SI.com says 2 teams have may already have bid $160 million and that high ranking MLB people think it will come in around 200 million.
This looks like Soriano/Miguel Cabrera. We can spend, but we have a limit.
Teix looks like a Red Sox if you ask me.

alright so
tex is gonna prob end up on the red sox, and the more i think of it, the more i don’t care about teixeira, all the “he’s losing sleep over how many millions of dollars he’s going to make” bullshit has really made me lose respect for the guy, unless that was just torii being funny.
i don’t think dunn is a good idea, he’s got potential to end up like richie “funk blast” sexson.
I say we sign Raul Ibanez, or Burrell. Maybe Dunn is a good choice because he won’t cost a draft pick.
regardless, if the sox sign tex, it’s undeniable that they are as awful as the yankees when it comes to spending money and they’ll implode one day.
who sits when the red sox play in national league parks?
Do they bench ortiz?
by ihearhowie2.0 on Dec 10, 2008 11:02 AM PST up reply actions
it doesn't even matter haha
what frustrates me is the sox fans on mlb trade rumors claiming the angels would then make a trade to get mike lowell from the red sox….NO THANKS.
I’ll gladly trade for Youk though, that guy is a stud and that’s why i hate him so much.
when have they not? It seems to be like the LA times has been pretty good
at reporting what they hear. Remember the brett favre report and how everyone said it gave the Times a black eye? Well hot damn, they called it 5 months ahead of everyone else.

Raul Ibanez
is old and no thanks to Burrell. I’d prefer Ibanez over Burrell for his left handed bat and I’d prefer Dunn over both since he’s left handed and is younger that Ibanez. Much younger, in fact.

Not Over Yet
Tex has not signed anywhere so we MUST continue to pursue himt, although I must admit I am very pesimistic.
Plan C should now be…
Manny for 3 Years, 60M
Fuentes for 3 Years and 27M
Randy Johnson – not sure how much it would take for him
Light up the Freakin Halo!
Randy Johnson
would only require a 1 year deal. Not sure of the price tag though. Maybe in the ball park of 7-10 million. He could be our 2009 Jon Garland but cheaper and better.
