Goodbye Darren O'Day
The Mets picked up Darren O'Day in the Rule 5 draft today according to mlbtraderumors.com. I would have thought he would be on our 40-man roster, but I guess there wasn't room for him. Pretty solid bullpen the Mets are putting together it looks like. Anyone think there was someone else less deserving of a spot on our 40-man roster than O'Day? Very interested to hear people's thoughts on this one.

He's injuried
“reliever Darren O’Day, torn labrum and all, has been removed from the Angels’ 40-Man Roster, cleared waivers and will be a minor-league rehabber with us for the foreseeable future” Oct 22
Do you really think the Met’s are going to keep him on the 40 man roster so he can sit on the DL?
Absolutely!
A Rule 5 draftee MUST stay on the 40-man for the first year he’s with the drafting team, and what better place to hide him than on the DL?
Witty .sig goes here.

Does Q still have a spot on the 40-man?
We should never lose someone to a Rule 5 draft if he is taking up space on the roster.

F*CK! F*CK! F*CK!
O’Day was a promising pitcher. I don’t know how the torn labrum will effect him going forward, but there were some really good signs in his rookie season:
The 4.57 ERA is misleading. He’s actually much better than that. His FIP was 3.64 and he posted a solid K/9 rate of 6.02. He also surrendered just 2 HRs in 43.1 innings of work, another positive indicator. Plus, he’s a sidewinding/submariner. Having a pitcher with an unorthodox delivery provided a good mix for the Angels’ bullpen.

Maybe this is perfect . . .
Maybe we will get him back if Phils take him off 40-man since he won’t be available much this year.
This is too bad
O’Day was very good, just got a bit unlucky last year and of course now he’s hurt. He had great peripheral numbers and would have been an excellent piece of our bullpen when he got healthy. I’m sorry to see him go.
I feel the need, the need...for speed!
SHIT........Im going to mis saying O'DANG........every time he comes in!!!!!
or O’DANG here coms O’DAY ALL’DAY EVERY’DAY.
I thought he kicked ass because of how he pitched. It looked crazy and he got the job done. I will miss him and hope he as a GREAT career. Hope he comes back to us later.
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
