Opening Day is Tomorrow...
As Angels fans in the Stoneman ERA we would hardly every see things happen in the off season. With the Ninja all has changed, BUT let us pretend that Stoneman is back and that the Angels are not making a move WHAT SO EVER. With the players on the 40 man Roster come up with your STARTING LINEUP (and explain why you made the choices you did).
Next make the Starting Rotation and the Bullpen in the order with the closer, setup, and 4 other relief pitchers in rank from who you think is better.
I’ll go First...
JUST THOUGHT OF THIS ...ADD THE DIVISION STANDINGS with the ANGELS record included. You can add the other teams records if you want.
This Fan-Post is authored by an independent fan. Tell us what you think and how you feel.

Explain
Morales then Napoli = Back to Back Jacks
Evans is WAY better than Willits, and has power.
Aybar has speed, so Double Leadoff.
I gave the 5th spot to Adenhart because he is UNDEFEATED lol small sample size I KNOW.
Arredondo is the closer because I trust him more, and sheilds is a VERY important as SETUP because he can pitch for 2+ innings on close games so it gives more flexibility IMO.
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

explanation
i think you gamble on Evans… you need power, Evans has shown potential in the minors. go for it.
Moseley, as much as we all hated him sometimes, showed some balls in a few starts, and he could be a serviceable 5th starter.
Arredondo has the power arm. He should be the closer. Shields loves his set-up role, so there’s no reason to take it from him.
Kotch would've had that.

LOL just switch Morales and Naps.
I like Moseley as the 5th starter but would rather give Adenhart a shot again for at least 4 starts.
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

forgot to mention
that i put reggie in right field and hitting 2nd because he would probably have a better OBP than howie even with a worse average since howie is incapable of taking pitches. You could even switch Figgins to second but that might be kind of weird
by ihearhowie2.0 on Dec 11, 2008 10:27 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Reggie's
OBP would suck badly because his BA would suck badly. This never-will-be has not hit a lick since the first half of 2007. They figured him out in the 2nd half and he never made any adjustments in 2008. Ever. Reggie Willits has no major league value. I know it’s harsh but it’s true. He plays a power postion and has absolutely no power whatsoever and his defense sucks. His arm is average at best. The only asset he has is speed. Willits is just a slower, more patient, crappier BA version of Juan Pierre.

I agree WILLITS SUCKS!!
But 2.0 has a point, willits does work the count, but it will be pointless because they will end up striking him out because they are not going to put willits on base with Vlad behind him.
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He's not even that fast.
Now, put Chris Pritchett at first, Bobby Rose at second, Pete Coachmen at third, and let's go win.

Willits is not God awful
He’s a very good 5th OF, and an average 4th OF.

My Opinion:
If Willits is a 4th outfielder, he is the worst 4th outfielder on any major league team. Worst as measured by complete package, offense, defense, etc.

Doesn't being a 5th outfielder
automatically mean that you suck?

man...
the thought us not making a move scares the scrap out of me.
i would HATE to actually see a team like that fielded.
Kotch would've had that.

Damn...look at those lineups.
Without Tex in the mix, we are going to be hard-pressed to score runs.
Even with him, we could probably use another bat.
I've got nothing.

Acuda a little false definition of Stoneman there
The off season was when he made a splash
Guerrero (‘nuff said)
Escobar (Guy had a great seasons with us)
Colon (Had a Combined 2 really good years)
Guillen (Can’t argue with his production or resulting value of his trade)
Speier (1 good, 1 bad)
Yes the screw ups are well documents (Finley, Shea OVerthehill, GMJ, etc…) But he did some good. I know I left some people off pulling a GA on looking them up.
