Around SBN: Cal RB Jahvid Best Seriously Injured, Carted Off Field

Big John, my favorite pitcher in baseball, just got dissed by this idiot.

Maybe it isn't clear

But all I read was Passan saying John Lackey only one who has made the commitment to pitch in the WBC, when there could be more aces coming out and pitching for Team USA, but have chosen not to for whatever reason or the other.

How is Passan dissing Lackey here? Passan is lamenting the fact Team USA would really be a great team if not for the players’ reservations about playing in the tournament.

“Only Team USA is likely 0 for 6 with the six best pitchers.”

I’m sorry, but Lackey is definitely a top-5.

is he?

i love big john, but personally i think CC, johan, halladay, a healthy beckett and lincecum are better

Guh?

Lincecum has had ONE GREAT YEAR (out of two).

Lackey’s ERA compared to Beckett’s in the last 4 years is quite a bit better. And it’s not like Lackey has been 100% healthy for the last four either.

Agree with red floyd. Lackey could easily knock Lincecum and Beckett out of your top 5.

Even excepting Lackey, you could also make a case for Peavy or Haren over Beckett and Lincecum.

Lincecum

He was barely called up in 2007, and was still learning the game. In 2008 he played to his potential, it isn’t like he was a fluke that came out of nowhere. He is a K machine that will be an ace on whatever mlb team he is on for years to come, barring any injuires.

Who care's if he doesn't get an extension?

If he makes it to FA, the safe bet is we’ll lose our best pitcher.
