Tex "favored the Yankees all along."
Just in case you were wondering whether Boras was using the Angels as leverage to drive up the price on Tex, the big picture of these negotiations is now coming into focus:
But when the Angels pulled out of the bidding on Sunday night, and the Red Sox failed to reach an agreement after their owner traveled all the way to Dallas to meet with him and agent Scott Boras, the Yankees suddenly became more interested.
It was then learned that Teixeira had favored the Yankees all along and according to sources he conveyed that to them this week.
Looks like Tex never had any intention of signing with the Angels (at least for a reasonable offer). While it's hard to begrudge Tex for getting all that he can get, it's hard not to feel at least a little disdain towards him for using our team as leverage. F-him: he is the enemy now. F-the Yankees, F-the Red Sox, F-Scott Boras too.
Here's too Kowbell and Wood coming up huge in 2009.

This makes me really not like Teixeira. Bummer to hear. I am really glad that Arte decided to remove his offer from the table.

Maybe we can have a Hang Bora$ in effigy Day
Or at least publicly post his San Juan Capistrano address to the masses
Call the cops, Martha ... Something's amiss over at Room 52 at the Ivanhoe Motel on Katella.

Don't hold your breath, Scioscia is still managing. Thankfully.
This is the worst offseason in years. I do not even want to talk about it.

I cannot wait to hear...
…the chorus of booos that reign down on Teix the first time the Spanks travel to the Big A in 2009. It will be absolutely Mo Vaughn-esque.

Boras Sucks!
This is the new chant that should ring out at Edison Field, every single home game. Just like in the old days at MSG, even when the Rangers were playing someone other than the Islanders, and the chant of “Potvin Sucks!” would start up and ring out in the arena.
It should replace the wave that always starts in the outfield; just a simple chant, particularly when the ahole is in the building, sitting in his luxury suite.
Borass sucks.

Well, as a child, Teix said his favorite player was Mattingly (NYY)

It's Christmas Eve, and I just found this little nugget
from DiGiovanna in today’s LA Times:
Hunter said he spoke to Teixeira on Saturday and had a feeling the switch-hitter would be moving on.
“He said he really wanted to come back, but he needed the Angels to step up,” Hunter said. “I didn’t know what he meant, because I thought eight years and $160 million was a pretty impressive offer.”
Maybe I missed this anecdotal evidence before…….I never really looked at the situation as ungrateful greed before. Now I see it as ungrateful greed.

interesting, isn't it?
he didn’t NEED them to step up, he WANTED MORE MONEY.
he easily could have accepted our offer if we “really wanted” to come back. don’t give me the bull about the MLBPA… you’re in control on of your decisions, man.
Kotch would've had that.

I guess
Torii wasn’t following the Teixeira madness as closely as we were. He might have known that 8 years, 160 million wouldn’t get it done if he did.

I'm with Torii on this one.
I think eight years and $160MM was a pretty impressive offer. Besides, Moreno kept us all on the edge of our seats for quite a while………..some kind of salesman, isn’t he? Next thing you know, we’re going to be racing toward the second week of February.
