Pujols anyone?
Ok, I know it's amazingly early to even think about this, but I need something to ease the pain of the Angels not landing Tiexiera. Albert Pujols will be a free agent in a couple years and early indications point to him being able to command as much as $30 million per year.
That number is mind boggling. And obviously it's too early to even know what the Angels' biggest needs will be in two years. But, I imagine a "big bat" will still be at the top of their wish list. Pujols will be 30 years old then and still in his prime. Is there any way Arte would consider making a run at him? Most likely the Yankees won't be a factor because of their recent signing. (But, then again, you never know.)
Like I said, I know how early it is to even consider such a thing. But, if the Knicks can be planning for Lebron in a couple years, then maybe we too can dream.

Sure,
if Kendry spent exactly one year in the minors before launching to the majors. As a 20-year-old.

this one guy once said...
“So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
how about we worry about this coming season first? we don’t know how big Morales or Wood or Rivera or Napoli might break out, do we?
let’s have some faith in OUR guys and see what happens!
Kotch would've had that.

I think the Cardinals would want more...
Maybe a ‘starting outfielder’ like Gary Matthews Jr. would close the deal for Pujols. If the Cardinals wanted, they can have Terry Evans back as well.

I say we give them
Mickey Hatcher for pujols straight up. Cause if we get pujols and still have Hatcher well pujols will never be the same. thats probably why Texeira left cause of that Old Bag of Balls

The Yankees will sign Pujols.
It doesn’t matter that they already have two everyday 1st baseman in Swisher and Teixeira. They sign him anyways just because they can.

Lets go angels

The Yankees
will give him to 10/300. Theres no point in hiding that fact. Why not add 300 Million more to the already spent 423 million. And with Mauer a free agent that year too o man who knows!

haha they probably would
has anyone else wondered where posada and jeter are going to move with tex at first for 8 years? Theyre going to be fielding one of the worst defenses in the league with jeter, an aging a-rod, posada behind the plate, damon.

Thats true
but hey they can just put pujols and texeira there, for that much money they should be able to play more than one position.

Keep dreaming bro.
Name whatever figure you want that you think the Angels would offer for Albert.
The Yankees will offer millions, millions, and more millions more than us. It will be the easiest slam dunk of that or any off season. Take it to the bank.
It would be dumb for Albert to be a free agent in the first place, but if the Cards let him go, the Yanks will have him.
by goodvibe61 on Dec 25, 2008 12:26 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
Cards won't let him go....
Look for an extension way before he hits free agency. Nice hoping though :)
Let’s face it, the only “Premier” free agent the Angels have had in like 20 years is Vlad. He came cheap because he supposedly had a bad back. We’ve lost out several times the last few years on the #1 free agent….
2004 = Beltran
2005 = Konerko
2006 = Soriano / Aramis Ramirez
2007 = Pay-Rod
2008 = Teixeira
The list will continue….

The Cards will resign him
They’ll make some crazy contract to keep him in St.Louis.
by eyespy on Dec 25, 2008 3:51 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
Its more or less a foregone conclusion that he will be a yankee
for the simple act that he will be a marquee free agent in a couple years, and the yanks seem to have no spending limit.
by linkbruin on Dec 26, 2008 5:06 AM PST reply actions 0 recs
I'd Be Surprised If He Left St. Lou
This is the kind of player you brand an entire franchise around, and a classy guy like Pujols, I think, would go back to the team that he’s called home when money is close or even.
by Kernel on Dec 26, 2008 11:13 AM PST reply actions 0 recs
Now that I think about it,
Pujols could very well be a Red Sock when he hits free agency. Like the Yankees, they have the money but he would also make sense for them, as scary as that sounds. Ortiz isn’t what he used to be anymore and they always could move Youk to 3rd and trade Lowell. That’s what they were hoping to do anyways in the Tex marathon. Since they lost out on their most coveted FA, they will be more motivated than ever to beat the Yanks in the Pujols derby.
by Chzburger Jones on Dec 27, 2008 5:46 AM PST reply actions 0 recs
where exactly would the Yankees put Pujols?
everything’s pretty tied up for them in the infield… would they risk moving him back to the OF?
Kotch would've had that.
by howiestheman on Dec 27, 2008 9:32 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
They're the Yankees.
They’d put him at catcher if they had to just to get him in the lineup.
