Mark Teixeira, from SI.com
Lee Jenkins wrote this article that has to stiffen the spine of any one of us hoping that fate falls our way regarding the possible resigning of Mark Teixeira for the next 6-7-8-? years. Although I, as much as anyone, strongly dislike Boras' tactics in negotiations for "our" players, I have to give him credit for being the best at what he does...
...sometimes more for himself than for his players. Regardless, this article gives me a few chills. Read, and enjoy.

Red Sox
dont need him.
Yankees want pitchers.
He wont sign with a losing team, the Os or Nats.
The Angels seems like the only logical place, as long as management dont out-think themselves and bid low and never raise it.
I brought sexy back, but they only gave me store credit....

why
Redsox:if they have the money to spend why not. he is obviously better then Lowell or Youk. so you have to trade 1 of those players. thats not going to be an issue for them.
Yankees:need alot of pitching but with there money they can afford an elite 1B
Loser teams:theres 2 ways to become good. patiently build through your farm. buy yourself a star to build around. if i’m the Nats or O’s and had the money to spend on Teix, i would. only because the o’s have sucked for soo long you need to have a star to build around. if your going to spend the money why not on a local kid. Nats because they really need to justify that stadium and prices to their fans. why wouldn’t he sign with a losing team. you can’t assume there going to be losing team forever.

why!
1) Youkillis is not only an exceptional player, but extremely valuable as a ticket draw and marketing wise. He is also not a very good third basemen. The Blue Pants would take a significant hit on left side defense moving him there.
2) Yankees want to sign three pitchers, if they accomplish that they won’t have money to sign Tex
3) its not the teams, its Tex, he has specifically said he wants to play for a winner.

why!!
-didn’t Youk come up as a 3B?
-its the Yanks, i agree that if they sign 3 pitchers their not going after Teix. i hope not. but if they wanted to, even with the 3 ptichers there not going to hit the 200M payroll they had in 08. i doubt they are going to sign 3 top pitchers.
-wouldn’t you say that going into FA? it makes you look good to the fans. but somehow, someway if 1 of those teams makes an offer you can’t refuse what are you going to do? if your from that area, the best offer. who thought A-Rod would end up in Texas.

That picture of Boras in the article looks like he is on his cell phone talking to
Dr. Bosley about some hair restoration.

Good article...
definitely Boras propaganda, but a good article nonetheless…
I know I want him back, but it sure sounds like he is “east coast minded” in every way…
C’mon Ninja…I have not given up hope!
Whodathunk we would be rooting for a former Ranger come August, er September, er October...? Miss ya Kotch, but Tex is THE man!

My favorite quote
When he came to the plate, Angels hitting coach Mickey Hatcher made sure to sit next to young players like Erick Aybar and Howie Kendrick in the dugout. “I’d tell them, ‘Look what Tex is doing up there,’” Hatcher says. “‘You see that pitch he just took? You see that pitch he just fought off?’”
Teixeira............Everything else can wait.

Yep, and when I was a pitcher
in college, the coach would show us tape of Nolan Ryan and say: “You see how he got that guy out”??? sheeeeez!
