Reagins has met with Nobody.
This is a tad bit discouraging. From the LA Times today:
Reagins said that Mark Teixeira remains the Angels' "top priority," but as of 1 p.m. today, he had not yet met with Scott Boras, the agent for the free-agent first baseman.
"I'm optimistic," Reagins said, when asked what he thought the chances were of the Angels retaining Teixeira. "You're always optimistic until you have reason not to be, and I have no reason not to be." [...]
The GM added that he has not had a face-to-face meeting with free-agent left-hander CC Sabathia, who met with the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox in Las Vegas. But the Angels are believed to be very interested in Sabathia, especially if they feel Teixeira is slipping away
The article also went on to say that the Angels were never given an opportunity to make a counter offer for K-Rod. I have faith in the Ninja and I hope that this is all tactics. However, the fact that he hasn't met with either CC or Teix is worrisome.

yeah, if you want Tex, you have to be real careful
You can’t mess this up. You mess up, there probably is no shot at a championship in ’09.

Maybe...
But the cavalry is rolling in with his his check book at the ready…
“Arte Moreno is expected by Tuesday night. Moreno has been deeply involved in negotiations with Scott Boras regarding Teixeira, as well as with agent Greg Genske on Sabathia, and it probably would be Moreno who would meet with Boras here”

Tim Brown
was the best baseball writer at the LATimes after Ross Newhan retired (and maybe before), who managed to get off the sinking ship and now works for Yahoo!

Why would he...
It is like going to Vegas for a wedding. Get there early, hit the tables and the bottle early, then late. A quick recovery at the pool. Get your tie on, while tying on another round of good cheer. Show up at the wedding, kiss the bride and come home with a first baseman named Mark. Of course, on your way out of town you might have to hurl into a trashcan at the local Las Vegas gas station; but that is a story you save for your friends.

Break the bank.
Meet with Tex/Boras tomorrow and offer 10 years, 200 million. Just do it. I don’t care if it’s not good business. Just please do it. That way if he does go to the Red Sox, they will be financially screwed for the next decade.
