How To Heckle the Oakland A's

Here is a player-by-player guide to heckling the Oakland A's.

It might be this season and next as the last to call them things like "Joakland" or "Choakland" as they will soon be The - Somewhere - Athletics of Fremont.

Having Been There...
Talk about a tacky stadium, at the time I wore a G.A. jersey, and I don't know which was worse, being called a devil(in reference to the Angels of course) by the A's fans, or the twenty thousand seats, covered by tarps....Fremont, San Jose, or Stockton, could not be worse!!
YOU DON'T KNOW THE POWER OF THE DARKSIDE.....

An AA Athletics Supporter
Roger is on the South Sunrise Little League AA Athletics this spting.  I went to Chick's in Tustin to buy the green socks and yellow long sleeved undershirt for Roger and an A's cap and XXL t-shirt for myself.  I looked at an Oakland jacket for Roger but thought better about buying it.

Thank goodness Roger is not on the Yankees or the Rangers.  Those are the two teams I really don't like.

Yes, there will probably be a few times this spring that Roger goes directly from the McPherson Little League complex to the Big A wearing his A's uniform.  You can let Roger know what you think of the Athletics.  I will be sure to change to an Angels cap and shirt/jacket before leaving the car and entering the Angels parking lot.

Mine, not so bad
I was a Cub, Dodger (Sorry folks), a Cardinal, White Sox, and an Astro. Could have been worse. Sadly, I was never an Angel and they existed in just about every division I played in. Damn, that blows now that I think about it.

Little League
I started out as a Cardinal, playing short with #1, how cool was that?  I actually thought I was Ozzie Smith.  After that, had stints with the Phillies, Pirates, then ended my career an Angel.  I played left field by then.

Unfortunately
I never got to be an Angel, as I was on the Twins, Diamondbacks and Cubs, before finally hanging it up.

Man
I didn't even get those cool teams: Reds, Phillies, Giants, Dodgers (repeat of machine pitch), Reds, Cardinals.

Have we got a cap collection!
I was on the Braves and Dodgers.  Roger has been on the Rockies, Grasshoppers, Reds, Tigers, and Athletics.  His two brothers were on the Diamondbacks, Dodgers, Cardinals, Mavericks, Rockies, Red Sox, and Mets.

Never played....
My folks didn't want to shell out buck$ for me to sit on the bench.

This was back in the '60s before the "everyone plays" rules.

Furious
I would be furious if my son was on the yankees for 3 years. I might move.

Heckling
When our son was 3 or 4 we went to the coliseum on Mother's cookie day. The kid ate and ate cookies and barfed everywhere. We did the same trip to Candlestick.

I think they have this promo every year on a Sunday and we could take a road trip. They'd never clean the place up as it gets real gooey real fast.
