"According to MLB.com's Corey Brock and the AP, the Padres are nearing a two-year, $11MM extension with shortstop Khalil Greene. That would simplify things for '08 and '09 but wouldn't buy out any years of free agency.
Back on January 19th, Padres GM Kevin Towers spoke candidly about the Greene situation. He wondered aloud whether Greene might prefer to be near his family on the East Coast once his commitment to the Padres ends."
I wonder if this could be a sign and trade for us? If it is, I'd like him to sign a longer deal.
