Superbowl #42 Thread
Okay, Missus HF and I are going to go see There Will Be Blood during the game because I will puke if I have to look at either of these teams win.
But here is a Pre-Game Pick Contest for Pigskin Braggin Rights:
1. Patriots or Giants
2. New England or New York +12
3. Over 53 1/2 or Under 53 1/2
4. Plus or minus 6 points, Total Points scored
5. Yes or No - will either team go thru the game without turning over the ball?
6. Name the player who will be selected the MVP
Post your picks in the COMMENTS section...

After watching "There Will Be Blood" I started reading "Slick and the Duchess" by John W. Ravage. The book concerns Teapot Dome, the Elk Hills Naval Petroleum Reserve, and Warren G. Harding. Yes, there was a Slick before Bill Clinton! Edward Doheny also gets a mention.
If we were having a sunny 80 degrees Fahrenheit day here in Southern California today the five of us would be in a short line to get our photo IDs for Disneyland Annual Passes instead of watching the carpet-bagging NFL Super Bowl. I am an L.A. Rams fan that is pleased that Georgia Frontiere is now 6 feet under and that the Georgia Sucks banners have been changed to Georgia Sucks Dirt! I would rather see one of those banners for old times sake than a costume malfunction in the Super Bowl halftime show.

Were those banners fire-proofed?
Whatever.
I hope somehow she made it to the pearly gates, but I highly doubt it.

December 1st, 1991
I usually sat just to the leftfield side of the football press box in the upper deck. There were always empty seats there even though it was about the 20-yard-line. The SW corner of the endzone (closest to homeplate) was blocked from my view. That only was a bother for a couple plays a game.
I never tried to bring a banner to a game. Invariably somebody else usually in the leftfield (north) endzone would unfurl a "Georgia Sucks" banner to rousing cheers. The ushers would rush to tear it down. Methinks Georgia had a stopwatch on the ushers. If it took longer than 60 seconds they would get fired.
All of the pre-game Super Bowl hype should be over by now. Time to plant myself in front of the telly for the opening kick-off.
