x-Angel bashing

Is it wrong to root against former Angels?

Bartolo Colon had a good outing for Boston.  This doesn't  make me happy.  He hurt his arm while pitching for his country (not Angelandia).  We suffered through his rehab.  Now he could hurt us, he should have to sit out for two years.

I wasn't sad that Mike Witt did nothing for the Yankees.  That's what they deserved for taking someone we gave up on.  Chili Davis hurt.  I don't remember what he did for them but i remember him being referred to as a veteran presence and a professional hitter.

Joyner played for crappy teams.  Eck was replacable.  Glaus was/is a money-hungry jerk.  Ryan, Edmonds... why did they go?

What is the proper reaction to former angels?

depends...

on the player, how they performed as an angel, what their personality was like, and on what terms they left.

bartolo won a cy young but completely bottomed out before expected. if he does well for anyone else i'll be pissed.

i won't ever cheer for anyone who leaves for the yankees or red sox.

i agree with you on eck and glaus (who is also injury prone, not to state the obvious).

ryan I'll love till the day i die.

cabrera i'd like to see play well, as frustrating it could possibly be, given our ss situation.

erstad i'd like to see do something, as unlikely as it is.

others anyone can think of? love or hate.

Why isn't Bob Grich in the Hall?

i'll tell you how i feel about "could-have-been" angels...

...like miguel cabrera.

I hope he gets smoked in the face by c.c. or carmona in a heated early-season battle between the pussy cats and the injuns and suffers a season-ending injury like a fractured eye socket, resulting in poor vision for the remainder of his career, leading to consecutive 4-7 HR seasons, eventually ending up in his contract expiring and a few years of floating around the free agent market and 1-year deals with crappy teams who think there still is a chance.

how about that for a run-on sentence?

booya.

Wow

It is not Cabrera's fault.

On the road to 100.

Don't get carried away regarding MCab yet.

Although Detroit is trying, they haven't signed him to an extension yet. He may test the free agency market after 2009 at the ripe old age of 26. At that time, all it will take to land him is money.

So...

...you hope Miguel Cabrera's career, and therefore, most likely his life, gets ruined because the guys in the Florida front office wanted to gut our farm system? The only thing more ridiculous than that, is the fact that I took the time to respond to it. My bad.

wow...

be a fan. its not mcabs fault. its not the marlins front offiice's fault. its no our front office's fault. its sports. its fanhood. i dont want to see miguel cabrera do well because it will leave me with a sick feeling to my stomach. if mcab only makes 200K for the next five years, i will feel anything but bad for him and anything but bad for the life he has lived. the fact that he made it this far makes him a success in life, as far as i am concerned. this is a ridiculous argument. WE DIDN'T SIGN HIM. I DON'T WANT HIM TO DO WELL BECAUSE HE'S NOT OURS. JUST LIKE ALL THE TWINS FANS SURROUNDING ME IN NORTH DAKOTA DONT WANT HUNTER TO DO WELL (even though he is their favorite player of all time, its because he ditched the Twins for "straight cash homey"). ITS NOT A SECRET. WHO WANTS ANY GOOD PLAYER, WHO EITHER LEFT THEIR TEAM OR JOINED A TEAM OTHER THAN THEIRS (and is a dick), TO DO WELL??? NO ONE. Its like cheering for Barry Bonds to hit 50 for the the Tampa Bay RAYS!?!?!?! Ugh.

Actually...

...I would love to see Cabrera do well. I wouldn't like to see Barry hit 50 homers for the Rays, though... I would rather see him hit 60-70. Because when the Rays, Tigers, or whatever other piece of garbage out-of-towners roll into our town, or we roll into theirs, I want it to mean something when we beat them. What is the point to beating Miguel Cabrera if he can't even see through one of his eyes? You'd be EXPECTED to beat him. It's when he's hitting .330 and giving outfielders a workout that it counts to beat him. A real fan has faith in his team, and knows they can beat the best to be the best. I don't need to hope that players get hurt, because I know we can beat them no matter what the condition. Barry Bonds hit .370 with 46 home runs the year we smacked his World Series dreams right out of his swollen head. That made victory just a bit sweeter. I want to beat teams at the top of their game, not gimps with limps. I want there to be no doubt who the better team is. I want excellent ballplayers on hot streaks to run into an Angel wall, and feel the pain and humiliation as they look up and see a figure donned in a red hat and halo say to them, "Look at me! I did this to you! REMEMBER ME!"

eh

I have an unhealthy hatred towards Red Sox fans, so any time that team loses it makes my day. As such, I want Fatolo to fail miserably.

Orlando, on the other hand, I really like, and I'd like to see him close out his career on a high note, with the White Sox or any non-Boston franchise.

It depends, I guess. I generally root for ex-Angels because they were probably good people for the Halos at some point.

Northeastern University Huskies: Mediocre hockey, guaranteed.

My View

I root for all Ex-Angels to do well,

except when they play us, then I root for them to go 0-4, maybe with a error thrown in for good measure, and that any former pitchers get shelled for a good 4-5 runs in 2-3 innings of work

If Colon is in the starting rotation for the Red Sox...

... the Angels (and Yankees) should be very happy. He's through. Except for that short time at the beginning of 2007 when he won 5 in a row, Colon has consistently pitched like crap since the 2005 post-season. In addition to absolutely horrible WHIP and HR Allowed numbers, he's been on the DL 3 or 4 times since he was removed in the 2nd inning of Game 5 Vs. the Yankees in the '05 ALDS. Add to this the fact that he's getting older and makes no attempt to stay in shape.

So I hope the Red Sox are counting on him to be in their '08 rotation becasue even if he wins a few games at the beginning of the season he will soon return to his normal form of the last 3 years, getting blown out early and costing the Red Sox a number of losses until he returns on the DL where he belongs. In the aftermath Boston will have to scramble to plug the hole in their rotation, and pitching depth is not something they have right now.

Let's all cross our fingers and hope!

My Philosophy

If they are in the American League, Ex-Angels are going to be playing 143 - 154 games against teams other than us - beat their asses I say, especially the other three AL West teams. Then suck against us, that is all I ask.

Except Edmonds. F- the Showboat...

And Jose Guillen

I wish cancer upon him. And not the astrological sign on which you base your radio program. The testicular kind.
