K-Rod market set? Nathan signs

Per the link, Buster Olney is reporting that the Twins and Joe Nathan have agreed to a four-year deal in the $11-12 million range.
I said it, at least to myself and close friends (not sure about this Web space) that four years, $48 mil is fair for both the Angels and K-Rod. Looks like the Twins think it's reasonable, too.
Get something done. Please. Shields isn't right.

Agreed
It's a bad signing. BUT! Look how much AWESOMERRRR Nathan was over Frankie in 2007. K-Rod gets Mariano Money if put up those numbers.
So, in my completely biased brain, Nathan being seven years older cancels out the fact that he was much better than Rodriguez. Thus, four years, $48 million to Frankie. I'll draw up the contract.
SEVERE LEFT TURN
With Shields PERHAPS out for a bit with a strained forearm, King Ade-Rock is a shoe-in for the #5 spot. They'll keep Mose in the pen. Hopefully this isn't serious at all for Scoty.
Adenhart won't be #5.....
I don't have any strong feelings on this......so don't get overly exercised, .......however
It would be financially better not to start Adenhart's service clock running yet.
If Moseley's healthy and seems up to the task, that's what long relievers are expected to do....emergency start for a while.
They're already stretcing out Oliver so he could become the long reliever for a limited time, replacing Moseley.
Thompson, Bulger, & O'Day have all performed admirably in Spring Training and could easily be seen as deserving replacements for Oliver, Bootcheck, & Shields.
Assuming no trades or DFA's, there are only 39 players on the 40-man roster.....O'Day would be the only one needed to be added, saving Adenhart..............money does matter.........especially for a 21-year old pitcher whom you want to hold onto for a very long time.
Bottom line, start Adenhart's clock running in September instead of April to preserve a modicum of prudence in budgeting.........preserve or increase Moseley's trade value as a starter (we're going to need to do it sooner or later),..........
This might not be popular conventional wisdom, but baseball is a business.
This ain't Moneyball
The service clock issue applies to a budget that has not been set (2013 season). Arte will greenlight the best arm. they stretched Oliver before the latest bad news on Shields.

Didn't the Halos already put 3YR/$34M on the table?
Shopping for a new signature, but ran out of money...
