Terrible News
Preston Gomez has been a key clubhouse guy for the Angels. 3 years ago, Frankie when on a tirade when his contract was renewed - they sent in Gomez and K-Rod apologized the next day to everyone and chilled since then. This is just one example.

Wait a minute...
is this the old fellow who walked around spring training in catcher's gear?

As an 84 year old
special assistant to the GM, I'd doubt he was in shinguards. That's probably Bill Lachemann.

You are right...that old fella does look like a Lachemann.

How Tragic
Preston Gomez is a good baseball man, and by all accounts a decent fellow. I hope he recovers.

Makes one wonder
If the curse has returned? First Escobar goes down...then Lackey...then Bootcheck...then GMJ...then Shields...then Escobar REALLY goes down...now Gomez almost gets killed in a freak accident??
What did the Halos do to p--s off the deities of baseball, so to speak?

Great Highlights, D.
Although Acuda could probably help out Lyle Spencer with his math...
Hey Downing, you should get a kick outta this: check these apples.

Spencer is going by what the family said...
"According to family members, Preston is 86, not 84 as originally reported"
Sounds like a case of one of those folks hailing from the Caribbean who do not have an accurate measure of when their birthday is...no birth certificates, so no true record of when the birth occurred. Don't mean to go "yetijuice" on you, but the same thing happens in the Philippines' countryside.
