Tom Hicks - discuss... (slightly off-topic)
By way of full disclosure of competing interests, I have an admission - the Angels are not the only team in red to whom I have a lasting bond. I also love another.
Ordinarily, this would not be a problem - different teams, different sports, different continents - I have enough love to share.
Until this happened. And then this. And most recently this.
It's enough that I have to be aware of this tit as an owner to a competing baseball team, without having him drop his proverbial trousers daily to the press to befoul my beloved football team too.

Nevertheless, it looks likely that despite the genuine hatred directed towards Hicks by almost everyone associated with Liverpool FC, he might end up in it for the long haul (or certainly until he's screwed us for every penny).
Up until know, I have been able to pretty much ignore him and his baseball team, since they have been entirely inconsequential - something I can no longer do. So my questions to you, the discerning baseball folk that you are, ahead of our 2 game set with the cellar-dwelling heathen of Arlington are thus:
1. Historically, as an owner, what has he achieved for the Rangers?
2. How does he compare with other owners?
3. How worried should I be?
4. How might vengeance best be achieved via his desperately shitty baseball team?
(p.s. I dislike intensely that the tags insist on referring to Liverpool football club as the Liverpool Reds, I dislike even more that I don't know how to delete the offending tag)

Tough Day to be a Scouser
At least he won't be afraid to foolish throw money at offense.
What's next, Billy Beane taking over the Glasgow Rangers.
Good luck vs. Chelsea.
Come on the hoops!

Beane already is GM for a MLS team.
Sea-at-ha-ha-ha that's funny.

I think he's on a money grab...
...the spending will be offset by leveraging debt against the club and mortgaging the future.
Last years outlay was an attempt to buy the fans. Can't see it lasting.

Wait him out ... I cannot see him having any money by the tim ethis recession works its way thru Texas...

God willing...
...praying for a recession is not the charitable approach to being a fan, but fandom is impatient and selfish and littered with the pain of failure.
A bit like being a 15 year old, but with more cash.

American truism:
Always trust a Texan with too much cash to overreach. That's been my fallback position on Liverpool from the moment I heard Hicks was pursuing the Reds.
