Vladdy's batting helmet
So this was in Paul Lakus daily uniwatch column today:
Tytus Abrahmason notes that Vlad Guerrero was wearing his usual tar-gunked helmet in the 1st inning of Wednesday night’s Angels/Royals game but wore a clean, shiny helmet for the rest of the game. Vlad hit into a disputed double play in that 1st inning plate appearance and was pretty upset afterward, leading to Tytus to wonder, “Could it be that he bashed his helmet to pieces during a 1st inning tantrum in the dugout?”
As you can see by clicking on the images, Vlad's helmet when from gunky to brand new. I was wondering if anyone at the game noticed Vlad extra angry in the dugout.

I sure noticed the protest.
Batting helmets don’t crack that easily. They take 99 mph fastballs and survive just fine.
See my post on dunce cap Vlad for additional signs of civil disobedience.

I heard Physioc say last night...
that Vlad could no longer wear the pine-tarred helmet. I was planning on coming here and asking if anyone knew about some new rule.
Artie probably thought the pine tar was affecting his “branding” opportunity.

its an ML-wide rule
no mroe crap obscuring the logos on helmets.

I hope they crack down on Manny really soon
And also tell him to leave the damn pajamas he wears every night at home.

Farnsworth tried to bean him last night.
Sea-at-ha-ha-ha that's funny.

I was disappointed to see ...
that the giveaway for the kiddies on “Vlad Batting Helmet” night is a shiny, new looking helmet and not one that has simulated pine tar on it. Bummer.

Maybe that's why he has a clean helmet.
For the kids.
Look for the pine tar to return after 3 May.

Dumb new rules all over the place
regarding batting helmets.
Like we don’t see the logos enough places elsewhere … a little pine tar covering the A on Vlad’s helmet isn’t going to make me forget which team I’m rooting for!
I'm not superstitious, but I'm a little stitious.
