This was a great game to be at – My seats were basically on top of that catch by Torii, the ball carried and carried but Hunter timed it well … and the Mariners had two amazing, run-saving catches themselves, one by Ichiro on a sure double by Aybar with a man aboard to the deep gap in LeftCF and a smoking liner by Hunter caught by Beltre that would have plated two easily.

Exciting finish to a nice win. It was all good (except the Vlad beaning. Where’s Mo Vaughn? Hire Mo to fall on Sean Green.)

Of note during this game was that Frankie was hitting 94 mph with his fastball during the Raul at-bat. His first 94 fastball was a strike. The second 94 mph fastball was off the plate and a ball. Raul then swung over a breaking ball. Those first 3 pitches are exactly why I am so focused on Frankie’s fastball velocity. When Frankie hits 94 with the fastball hitters know they must commit early, hence the swinging strikes on those late-breaking sliders. Unfortunately the 94 fastball disappeared after the Raul at-bat. But at least it’s a very good sign and a step in the right direction.

It was crazy that he had such a big power night. I’m glad I listened to that one on the radio, cuz if I watched it live, I would’ve had a heart attack. Great game, Go Halos.
