830AM Barely Comes in

I was curious as to what other people here on Halos Heaven think of the strength of the 830AM transmission.  My experience so far this season has been that there are spots in L.A. County where the signal is virtually nothing but static.  Are there plans for the station to acquire a stronger transmitter?  ...Meanwhile, the Dodger games on 790AM can be heard up in Ventura and down in San Diego.  This is no way for the Angels to win the hearts and minds of baseball fans in Southern California, is it?

I've only listened to a few minutes on 830...

but those few minutes were pretty static-y. This was in south OC.

Whatever dude.

pretty good for me

I cant hear am710 after about 7pm at all, 830 is not perfect but I can hear it. I live in Chino and will sometimes leave the game in the 7th and listen on the way home and can hear it all the way. i think its towards LA that the signal fades

Relax... Everything is fine

The Hype Was Big BUT the Results Are Flat

I was shocked at how weak the signal is in L.A. County. Anywhere east of Norwalk and it is a crapshoot. Disappointing.

no problem here

I live in south oc and i get it loud and clear.

Better than 710

in Pasadena. In the evenings, I couldn’t get 710 anywhere near my home, nor anywhere else in the SGV (at least traveling along the 210 freeway). 830 comes in, though, both near my home and along the 210. 830 does have a stronger signal, but it’s clear that there are pockets of L.A. County that get better coverage from 710.

Work and Live

I work in Compton… I barely hear it, but tons of static. At home, it comes in clear. All the way to the Stadium and all the way home, comes in perfect. When I’m at my other job in Pasadena or Irwindale, it still sounds pretty good.

by Jay Cal on Apr 23, 2008 9:35 AM PDT   0 recs

About the same

I listened to games on 710 all last year, and have been listening to games on 830 this year during my commute home from Tarzana to Santa Clarita. The quality is about the same as it was on 710 for me. Lots of static, drops out in a few spots, but is mostly passable. It fades big time up in the SCV, but it’s enough to get me from work to home.

I have that problem up here in the valley, but when I was in OC over the weekend I wasn’t losing signal passing under bridges.

Same here

The worst is when I am at a red light near a power line in L.A.

Well

I just use XM Radio. Never lose the signal.

And how's the Chili Davis this evening?

by HaloDutch on Apr 24, 2008 7:46 AM PDT   0 recs

What station on XM?

I can never find it.

Generall

On mine all the baseball broadcast channels are grouped together past the comedy and talk channels on 175-189. I’ve found we’re often on 182, but it changes often.

And how's the Chili Davis this evening?

by HaloDutch on Apr 27, 2008 5:20 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Its bad in the Valley

For the first time in 30+ years I can’t listen to the games in my car or at the pool, i’m forced to stay indoors and watch tv, god forbid I goto Tommy’s and get a Chili Burger cause i’d miss part of the game due to the weakest transmitter the angels have ever been on. I’m in Sherman Oaks. I can’t get a signal in Northridge, West Hills, or Van Nuys. Really bad planning Angels Radio Network , Really bad planning..

Frustrated

SFV88, is that you again?

Arte, please buy the Angels back from the Red Sox...they've owned us long enough.

Second link has the contact info to complain to the Angels. Sorry it sucks up there, and I hope the Angels can do something about it. Seems like radio has been dropped down on the priority list. Personally, I’d take a WS ring over good radio coverage any day.

Santa Barbara

it comes in slightly at night, better in the day, but not under powerlines. If you’re desperate, you can strain to hear the score before getting sick of the static. Up here, we were hoping it would be an upgrade, but it’s not. AND Ventura 1520 dropped the Angels.

830 sucks even in Westwood

Inaudible in the high-rise canyons adjacent to UCLA.

Witty .sig goes here.
