Athletics @ Angels MONDAY GAME THREAD
Oakland Athletics at Los Angeles Angels, Apr 28, 2008 7:05 PM PDT
You know what I like about the Oakland Athletics? In 2002, they went 8-11 against the Seattle Mariners. Had they gone 1-18 against the Mariners that season, Seattle would have been the Wild Card team in the playoffs that year.

Quinlan?
Man. I get depressed every time I see his name in the ‘due up’ list at the end of a half-inning.

izzy it hurt
and as far as i know, we didn’t call anybody up. and we don’t have any other infielders on our bench.
"Here we go baby, 'bout f***'n' time!"
Two Garland strikeouts in one inning
And with that, he nearly doubles his K-total for the season thus far.

Actually it was an inch into fair territory
The Frank Thomas triple was more an hilarious reminder of how crazy the game of inches is THAN say, soemthing to get riled up about them being great or us being bad.
Gaudin sucks
let’s pound this wimp.

Weird observation
but I just realized that, in the next 3 years it is feasible that the American League West will have three Asian catchers…?

MENS WEARHOUSE COMMERCIAL
How many guys at the ballpark dress like that? Seriously? And especially the ones sitting on the couch…
I dunno. That's what I used to say every time he'd get a hit in '04
when he had that monster hot streak. Because it was true.

garland is his own worst enemy
always putting guys on before giving up bombs
Steal 2nd or die trying
Hm
Theoretically would a player be able to participate in these random games if they were to come across it?
Or is there some rule against it, in the spirit of ‘gambling’ i suppose?
Chart it up! Game on!

i think oakland is like the Houston rockets
just a mirage on a nice run. eventually the true team will manifest itself
Steal 2nd or die trying
Or we're like the Celtics
an obviously superior opponent losing to a team that we should be sweeping in four games.

Wow. The Sox are laughing at us
Cabrera for Garland? Who do you think got the better on that trade?
Write to the Angels front office. Get Tim Salmon's number 15 retired!
At the moment, they aren't laughing at anyone.
OC is batting .226 with a .600 OPS, and a craptacular .767 ZR.

at least Jon has the potential to eat-innings effectively. I think he’ll bounce back some.

Game by Game ERAs for Moseley this year
1) 9.00
2) 6.00
3) 9.00
4) 7.71
5) 5.40
I don’t see anything there. Moseley’s best ERA in a single game this year is approximately the same as Garland’s SEASON ERA.
by Caseys Kiss of Death on Apr 28, 2008 8:53 PM PDT up reply actions
Well that number is dropping Garland is getting punished by a pathetic offense
Sea-at-ha-ha-ha that's funny.
It's hovering at 'intolerable', and is consistently bad.
Moseley sucks. It’s a fact of life. He pitches to line-drive contact. Garland may suck, but he has a track record that says that he doesn’t always suck. Moseley’s sucking isn’t pre-dated by a non-suck track record.
by Caseys Kiss of Death on Apr 28, 2008 8:57 PM PDT up reply actions
If you would really, honestly rather have Moseley on your team
than I don’t know how to help you. Moseley is the same kind of awful everywhere…even in the bullpen last year he eventually became hittable.
Garland has never had a full season as bad as how he’s been in a few starts to open this year. I tend to think that veterans are allowed a few bad starts early before we get a lynch mob out.

I'm honestly curious
how does a somewhat worthless, frequently relocated franchise like the Athletics without a dominant winning tradition in recent memory have such a strong e-presence on the internet exactly? Athletics Nation is ridiculously active, despite no one ever appearing at the park, and without any real reason for bandwagoners to exist. It’s seriously confusin.
