Spare Parts
It's nice to have extensive cover at every position, but it's not always helpful to the club as a whole to have Major League ready talent sulking their way on the bench or at AAA, simply because they they are not quite good enough for the championship calibre team that is the LAAofA.
Is there any point keeping Morales, Rivera, and Quinlan hanging around? Or does it make sense to trade them for a specialist reliever and some young talent? Rivera particularly could easily play everyday for about ten teams, and you could make a case for adding Moseley to the list as well.

i still cant understand how people complain about strong depth after we just lost 2 starting pitchers and are having to use it. Rivera will look pretty good if one of the outfielders goes down, wont he? do you really think GA or Vlad isnt prone to an injury?
and kotchman???? the guy whos most snakebit by injuries, we shouldnt have a strong backup?
good teams have good benches. get used to it if you want to be a good team
Here is a Depth Challenge
In what area are the Angels SO SO SO lacking that they should take the risk and trade some of the depth for it?
There is no one area that this Angel team is desperately poor in - so why risk dumping depth we may need at the next turn of an ankle?
Prospects
of the power-hitting, OF-playing variety. That's more of an organizational deficit; strictly speaking, the major league club isn't really lacking.
relief pitching??
Aren't we only considered short there because of injury already?? Won't we be back to tops with the return of Shields and Bootcheck??

I wonder
what would Rivera, Morales, or Quinlan say? A lot of times, you'll hear a player say he'd rather sit on a championship bench than play everyday in the cellar. Unless you're Shmea Hillenbrand. However, I agree that Morales and Rivera could be everyday players.
"Erstad says he's got it. Erstad makes the catch!..."
Of course
You have the options just to make trades on the fly, particularly at the beginning of the season, when many team don't know what they have yet. I'm sure it is the No.1 concern for the Angels at this point of the eyar.
There is no point to keeping Quinlan around
He is terrible but Scioscia thinks he is the second coming of Babe Ruth
Get rid of Quinlan
