2008 Opening Night of Anaheim
On opening night, everything except the game itself was great!
We got to the stadium early and noticed that the Angels switched copiers since their exhibition games last week...
Then we saw fans flying the Halos Heaven colors...
Bill Stoneman was honored before the game, the team went to great lengths to underscore that this was the greatest General Manager in franchise history...
Bill was helped by Vladdy, G.A. and some others in raising just another division title banner...
Despite the plethora of great musical acts from Orange County and Southern California, the categorically offensive jazz-assassin Kenny G. played the national anthem...
Fred in the front row stood for the big flag...
Well - forget the game - we got up to leave in the 8th and saw cupie and yeswecan faithfully staying until the final pitch...

one note
By "jazz assassin" I did not mean to imply that Kenny G. plays "killer" jazz, but rather that he is KILLING jazz.
complete travesty
is there anyone more irrelevant to angels fans than kenny fucking g? avril lavigne would've been more relevant, and she's canadian, to boot.
his minute-long sustain at the end of "land of the free..." was pure narcissism. even a 200-foot flag couldn't remind him that the point of the song is to honor our country -- NOT to celebrate his ability to do circular breathing.
Panterus Lucidus
Lucid critique - that held-note was all about showing off after like ten seconds. But if it was meant to underscore the HE BLOWS than it was effective.
I want the REV to know
That I am VERY DISAPPOINTED because there was no mention of meeting up with ME last night in this thread. Especially since I was the first member on this new website.
I'll remember this..
If you had let me take a picture without flashing me
I would have mentioned the audience you granted us!
ok, I see how it's gonna be
See if I tell you any more gossip...
To everyone who gave me parking suggestions
on my "Home Opener Question" fanpost, just wanted to say Thanks.
Parked in one of the office parks on Orangewood, and was able to get out while the fireworks were still going. I live in the West Valley -- almost in Ventura county -- and had a long ride back.
Next time I'm at the Big A, I really would like to meet some HH'ers in person, though!
Angels fan since '67
left field, mostly
cupie and the Gang of Pride usually hang out in left field. i'm there, too, unless i have my right field pavilion seats. it usually depends on how many of the Gang of Pride are out.
