Probably Garland
But Vlad has been killing a rally at just about every chance he gets
Get rid of Quinlan
I'm gonna say Vladdy
What the hell is going on? He is swinging at some really bad stuff. Worse than normal. Not too good.
Trade Quinlan for Jack, they are both clowns.
I don't see how you can blame a batter
when the starting pitcher gives up 7 runs. If the game was 5-4 or 4-1 then maybe. But if the starter gives up 7 he gets the blame. Garland gives us a quality start and the Angels have a chance. Then you can start blaming batters.
agreed
was at the game. vlad's double play sucked the life out of the place.
Garland awful, Vlad terrible. Co-Blame-a-palooza
Garland
He always has given up lots of hits due in large part to his low K rate (hence the career ERA of 4.39). The problem today were the balls that went out of play. So be it. That's just Garland; he'll have games like this (check out his gamelogs), but hopefully he'll be more good than bad and provide some decent starts this year for the Angels.
OF NOTE: Shields fastball was hitting 94 mph, something he was unable to do in the 2nd half of 2007. It's only one game, but it's worth monitoring if he can repeat this kind of velocity.
Ain't no stoppin' us now. We got the groove!
I agree
Gotta be Garland. He's not going to be as bad as he was today, but he's not going to be as good as his Twins start. He's an innings eater with a middle of the road ERA. A good number 3 pitcher, but no Lackey or Escobar.
Vlad will be okay...unless he's hiding an injury. He usually comes out the gate hot and scorches Texas pitching, especially Padilla, and the contrast is unsettling. I guess he's human. If he's hurt, get Johnny Rivers' bat smelling ass in there.

It's gotta be Garland...
though some very thing silver lining existed. HK and Desmond continued to freakin' rock and Shields did what he should.
Of note: As I was explaining to my girlfriend how GA notoriously swings at terrible pitches, he hits a jack to right. Maybe all of our smack of GA produces some good juju.
Garland..
..you can't give up 7 runs and only go 5 innings like that..
vlad will get it going, but even if he had been 4-4 with 5 rbi's, we would have still lost 10-9..
Here's to another season of baseball! Angels in '08!
seriously
whats going on with vladdy?
just a slow start, or should we be concerned?
that being said, i'd still give it to garland. bad outing.
Bring up Wood!!!
Just maybe...
The halos made Padilla look like this years Cy Young award winner. You lose some and sometimes you look really bad in the process. Don't stress out too much fellow Angel fans, its April, not September.
YOU DON'T KNOW THE POWER OF THE DARKSIDE.....
I am going to sue you
That picture will give me nightmares for years to come. Seriously, I think that is an infringement of some kind of photo licensing agreement.
Oh, and I guess Garland.
Oh, and someone is dissing Vlad? Remember the last time someone knocked him down?
Wow. Lot of anger. Lot of anger.
The last time I encountered profane vitriol on that level was when I made the mistake of sending ‘Happy Hanukkah’ cards to Hezbollah.
(p.s. Please use the "Stephen Colbert" voice when reading my posts. Because in no way do I mean to offend anyone, especially certain groups that are prone to volatility. You know; NASCAR fans.)
Ain't no stoppin' us now. We got the groove!

That is one OUT OF CONTROL thread...
I thought we were getting pretty bad in our game threads last year, but our worst did not even come close to that thread you just linked me to.

No Shit
Such foul language over there... ;-)
Seriously, they're even more worked up than HH was over Scioscia's use of Finley & Hillenbrand. Yikes. They really need to lay off the caffeine.
the guy behind the plate
i don't care if you're strike zone is bigger or smaller than usual, just so long as you're consistent...for both teams.
Why isn't Bob Grich in the Hall?
Garland was BOG, But Prince ........???
Now, the Purple One was (sex) PANTHER in the day!
Prince: This bores me. Is anyone up for a game of basketball?
Charlie Murphy: HAHAHAHAHAHA!
Prince: How about you and your friends... versus me and The Revolution?
Charlie Murphy: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
