No KCOP Angels broadcasts in santa barbara - HELP!
Dear halo fans - Cox cable no longer broadcasts KCOP televised Angels games in Santa Barbara. I need help in findina a way to watch my Halos play. Any other SB halo fans out there want to help me fight cox? Any one have suggestions on satellite tv options. I want to make sure that I still get both Fox West stations as well. I am so upset that I can't see half of my halo's games. Go Angels.

Here is what you do:
1. Dump Cable for satellite and buy the MLB package.
2. Move to civilization
3. Espn or Yahoo list the opposing team's broadcast channels - hit up a local sports bar.

mlb.tv is great
When I'm in California I get to see every game and usually go to around 20 per season but now that I go to school in Colorado I don't get back to Cali until mid may. I can't live with out my angels fix and I think the best way to get angels games is MLB.TV. Last year it was kind of shaky, but they have improved it a lot and you also keep track of mariner games (hoping they lose of course) or other teams you like when you have free time. It's very affordable too at 20 dollars per month for their top package.
If you are interested in MLB.TV make sure though that you check the black out restrictions for your area because since you are in California the angels games might get blocked out like the rockies games get blocked out here.

IF you want to run Microsoft
I personally have no desire to run MIcrosoft software on anything, so F that.

I have Dish Network (satellite)
I get most of the games on FSN and the rest on Channel 9 or 13. I think the price is fair for what you get. They have about three levels of packages and with the middle level you get all the sports channels but not the premium movie channels.

Easy
Go to your grandma's house, find a set of rabbit ears in her garage, plug those into your TV, and you will probably get a signal.
I used to get Santa Barbara stations with my antenna and I lived in south OC.
Free TV. Remember the good old days?

Maybe Not
Rabbit ears will be useless once the conversion to digital broadcasting is complete. Some stations have already changed over; I don't know if KCOP is one of them.

I'm no expert...
but I believe rabbit ears receive digital signals too. Otherwise, how would a person without cable or satellite receive digital TV? The converter boxes only convert the signal to play on an analog TV, they don't receive it. That's my understanding at least.

yeah
you must be right, but would the rabbit ears be useless without a signal converter? I guess not necessarily, if the TV is digital...do digital televisions even have inputs anymore for a rabbit-eared signal?

TV
The cable input works for an antenna as well.
BTW, KCOP is definitely broadcasting digitally already. But I'd bet they're still transmitting an analog signal until the deadline.
I could just be talking out of my ass though. Somewhere out there is an electrician laughing at my comments.

Yep
Most stations will transmit on both frequencies until the feds take back analog.

Rabbit ears will still work with a Digital TV
Every television has a coaxial input for an antenna. But if you own an Analog TV then you need the Digital-to-Analog convertor box to view over-the-air programming (i.e. free) after 2/17/09. I'm just confirming what you said.
Read all about it here.
At one point last year the government was sending out checks to people to pay for their box. Nevermind the homeless and hungry in this country, it's much more important to keep the masses hypnotized entertained.
We'll be fine.

as to your last comment.
I hadn't really paid much attention to the whole changeover thing, even though we only have analog TVs, because we have DirecTV.

A much simpler reason for this
Greed, plain and simple. Once the Feds realized how much money there was to be made in "spectrum auctions" (thus indirectly stiffing the very people who will end up using the spectrum), they couldn't wait to kick analog TV users off the old bandwidth they were occupying, obsoleting millions of TV sets that were perfectly fine. Totally unnecessary.

Obsolete or not
I'm in no hurry to replace my functioning analog TVs. A good HD set costs 5x what I paid for the tubers (at least), and I'm positive that it won't last 5x as long. When you're about ready to try to put a kid through college, a couple grand on a television seems like a rather frivolous expenditure.

SB Brother!
I too am an SB Angels fan, despondent with this problem. I have Dish Network, and it doesn't give me KCOP on channel 13. Dang it! It sounds like MLB.TV is the only option.
