Athletics @ Angels THURSDAY GAME THREAD

Oakland Athletics @ Los Angeles Angels

You know what I like about the Oakland Athletics? They are more likely moving to Portland than to Fremont. Here is a look at their fanbase driving home from the game.
Oh yeah, bet on Portland.

Rex and Steve's Microphones were off

in the pregame show. Back on and it is just the stadium noise!

by Rev Halofan on May 1, 2008 7:06 PM PDT   0 recs

Rex & Steve on tranqs?

Usually they’re attempting to shout at the top of their lungs; now it’s as if they’re doing the thorazine shuffle in the booth. WTF?

"I've never been so insulted in all my life!"

Since Ortiz lied about his age

and Ryan routinely had 13+ K/9’s in the minors, I’m not going out on a limb to say, neither.

Off the top of my head, I’m guessing he becomes a sort of Matt Morris type - a right-handed Jarrod Washburn, if you will - a righty-with-guile type who doesn’t miss enough bats to be a great pitcher but will have a good major league career.

Witty .sig goes here.

With a fastball already at 93-94?

There’s no reason he couldn’t miss more bats once his control improves. He has good movement and good offspeed.

Here we go Nick

All Hail King Nick!!

Good first half inning.

12 pitch first inning

not bad since they didn’t get to see a lot of pitches

by Los Angeles de Anaheim on May 1, 2008 7:14 PM PDT   0 recs

RICH LEDERER

When they show the isolated shot of a Right Handed Batter in the box, BASEBALL ANALYST writer Rich Lederer is clearly visible sitting in the front row above the Angel dugout perched on the batter’s front shoulder.

by Rev Halofan on May 1, 2008 7:15 PM PDT   0 recs

Sumbitch

got his buddy’s tickets behind the dugout. Sweet!

Witty .sig goes here.

Typical Duchscherer inning

against us. The question is whether he can keep it up. Man I hate junkballers though. I don’t understand why this team can’t seem to hit them.

Four-pitch walk = bad, kid.

Also, Napoli, WTF @ calling four pitches on a corner that the ump is clearly not calling?

~Till the Halo burns out...

by Zu Long on May 1, 2008 7:26 PM PDT   0 recs

dammit.

throw some strikes kid.

"Here we go baby, 'bout f***'n' time!"

by b0rd3rline on May 1, 2008 7:27 PM PDT   0 recs

on Gamecast

ball 4 was exact location as strike 1. wtf. what’s it look like on teevee?

"Here we go baby, 'bout f***'n' time!"

by b0rd3rline on May 1, 2008 7:28 PM PDT   0 recs

Nick

focus my man.

by cupie on May 1, 2008 7:29 PM PDT   0 recs

Geez

Nick is a massacre. Be cool.

by cupie on May 1, 2008 7:29 PM PDT   0 recs

This kid is too wild!

Booooo…... all our rookies are___.

Scioscia, "Roll the hole!"

by 44FAN on May 1, 2008 7:29 PM PDT   0 recs

Yikes

These pitches on gameday look crazy…

Napoli needs to set up in the middle of the plate

and leave the target there. This kid isn’t Saunders or Santana.

by Zu Long on May 1, 2008 7:30 PM PDT   0 recs

what happened

to that 1st inning coolness?

"Here we go baby, 'bout f***'n' time!"

by b0rd3rline on May 1, 2008 7:30 PM PDT   0 recs

Not good

Over on AN, they were saying that the best strategy against Adenhart would be to simply take pitches. Looks like they’re right.

by jjackflash on May 1, 2008 7:30 PM PDT   0 recs

Cuss Words!

Soxh, what the heck is the plan?

by cupie on May 1, 2008 7:31 PM PDT   0 recs

Four straight walks.

Scioscia, "Roll the hole!"

by 44FAN on May 1, 2008 7:31 PM PDT   0 recs

Yikes.

Looks like question #1 is going to be a wash today.

hey we got a strike

all be it a foul tip

by cupie on May 1, 2008 7:32 PM PDT   0 recs

Dude cannot throw a strike to save his behind

Once the guy got a hit and he had to pitch from the stretch it was all downhill … 39 pitches and counting … 40

by Rev Halofan on May 1, 2008 7:33 PM PDT   0 recs

OK

how much will Suzuki be fined for swinging?

by jjackflash on May 1, 2008 7:33 PM PDT   0 recs

Well, we can take this one of two ways

A) Adenhart really blows this much.

B) Adenhart is suffering from nerves, and the fact that he’s pitching on three days rest.

~Till the Halo burns out...

by Zu Long on May 1, 2008 7:33 PM PDT   0 recs

More Likely B

and seriously, giving the guy his first MLB start on 3 days’ rest seemed, ahead of time, to be a completely stupid idea.

by jjackflash on May 1, 2008 7:34 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

hey adenhart

they’re not swinging. throw an eff’ing strike!

"Here we go baby, 'bout f***'n' time!"

Q U I N L A N

That one is on you

by Rev Halofan on May 1, 2008 7:33 PM PDT   0 recs

Where

in the heck is Brandon Wood?

by cupie on May 1, 2008 7:34 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

I agree

Apparently Q’s range is now 3 feet. That was pathetically bad

by MH252525 on May 1, 2008 7:35 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

i would say it is the total length of his body

so if he falls down, it is a least five feet.

by cupie on May 1, 2008 7:42 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

what'd he do?

gamecast is behind.

"Here we go baby, 'bout f***'n' time!"

by b0rd3rline on May 1, 2008 7:34 PM PDT   0 recs

Didn't make the play on Suzuki's ground ball.

2 runs score.

~Till the Halo burns out...

by Zu Long on May 1, 2008 7:35 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

That Rainbow Curve is all he can throw

for strikes ... Ellis is prolly his last batter

by Rev Halofan on May 1, 2008 7:34 PM PDT   0 recs

seriously

just going by gameday here, so I don’t know what the pitches look like, but yeah. Curve is the only thing thrown for a strike.

by jjackflash on May 1, 2008 7:36 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

force out at 2nd

Fielders choice Quinlan to Aybar

by Rev Halofan on May 1, 2008 7:35 PM PDT   0 recs

Nice!

Two outs.

by cupie on May 1, 2008 7:36 PM PDT   0 recs

NICE inning Nick!

...

I actually feel sorry for that guy.

by Red on May 1, 2008 7:37 PM PDT   0 recs

why wasn't the FC

a DP?

"Here we go baby, 'bout f***'n' time!"

by b0rd3rline on May 1, 2008 7:37 PM PDT   0 recs

no chance on the DP

at least Q made a play.

by cupie on May 1, 2008 7:38 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

it was a slow slow squib in the grass and Quinlan fielded it
