According the Chicago Sun Times,  our Figginator's name is being tossed around to solve that team's leadoff hitter woes.  

A source close to the situation said that (GM Kenny) Williams started sending out feelers more than two weeks ago to teams that had leadoff hitters also capable of playing second base...

The article cites "whispers" around the Big A last week that we're interested in Joe '1-Year After Back Surgery' Crede as evidence that something could go down.  Um...hello Dallas McPherson?  Do we really need another 3B with back problems? Crede has a great glove but, I'll pass, thanks.  

The other Williams quotes from the article read like maybe this was just an attempt to light a fire under the asses of the current roster so, hopefully, the Ninja isn't seriously contemplating making a move like this.

I know there's great love for Don't Call Me Desmond (great sig, btw) around these parts, but I've also seen a lot of folks argue that he becomes expendable once our youngsters waiting in the IF's wings are MLB ready.  As Rev pointed out here recently, the need for a spark plug like Figdel Runpastyo at the top of the order is essential for the success of Mike Scioscia's team and I don't see anyone like that waiting for the Salt Lake Shuttle to arrive, so I say we ride the Shugga-Shugga-Chone Train til the wheels fall off.
