Get a GRIP, people!
I have compiled a selective list of comments from the game threads of the last two games:
screw you, sosh thats crap
Fuck Scioscia negative two F-bombs for May now
god im so pissed right now
that was completely unacceptable on scioscias part, and i hope he realizes that
Go to hell Krod
Soth is a complete moron
wow, fuck you scioscia
YOU SON OF A BITCH, SCIOSCIA!
At least pretend you want to win, Mike.
how low can you go Vlad?
if we score a run today ill be pleasantly surprised
yea maybe Soth should spend more time filling out a lineup cards than questioning umps about calls they got correct.
OMG I'm going to kill Soth
Just to remind people, we won both games, against the division leading White Sox, who had just won their previous seven games, at their stadium, and we are now 2.5 games atop the AL West.

True they won the games.....
But they can’t expect their starting pitchers to go into the 9th inning with shutouts EVERY game.
The last two games, they’ve only won because of their starting piching., their offense is struggling mightily and is a major cause of concern IMHO.
Over on LL they have a concept called "Game Thread Emotion"
Basically GTE is the recognition that people get hyped up during a game, and that they therefore tend to travel into the realm of extreme hyperbole. Most of what you quoted is GTE, though some of it seems to be premeditated Scioscia-hating. People were upset because they wanted Saunders to get the CG and Scioscia didn’t let him, and in the heat of the moment, they let him have it. The best policy for most GTE is to let it go, and that’s what I’d recommend for what you’ve quoted.

It’s not a question of dedication to the team…it’s realtime anger over a decision. We’re not dumb. We all recognize that the season is obscenely long and that individual managerial decisions have an effect on, at most, one game. But at the same time, every fan wants his team to win every game, and it’s not unreasonable to expect some heightened emotion, particularly when it comes to sensitive topics like pitch counts.
Joe Saunders has thrown over 7 innings a bunch of times this year. We’d all like to see him get his CG shutout, and the comments above reflect that.

We won the game. That doesn't mean Scioscia made the right move.
I highly doubt any reasonable person really wants Scioscia fired, dead, etc. His overall record is outstanding and there’s nobody I’d rather have as our manager. However, when Mike makes a move like that, it’s perfectly reasonable for Angels fans to be irritated with him. I, for instance, disagreed with the move when Scioscia made it, and got really irked at him when Franky went ahead and let Joe’s baserunner score, blowing the shutout. Why you’re making a thread about it 2 days later kind of mystifies me though. It’s over and done with, and we did get the win, so no permanent harm done. Mike makes mistakes, we’re gonna get mad at him for it, and we’ll get over it.

The reason I bring it up now
is that with the passage of a little time, those comments seem obviously (at best) misplaced, and I would hope that the poeple who wrote them (who incidentally I haven’t named) would try and breath deeply and count to ten before posting such comments.
Monthly F-Bombs Remaining: -1
Counting to ten
That is a good rule of thumb if you want to make a FanPost about a subject, but the Game Thread is actually the best place for capturing real time emotion.
I instituted the monthly F-Bomb limit specifically to force all of us to confront our TRUE feelings while in the moment to better articulate them. And also because it was looking pretty grim, vocabulary-wise in those posts.

Seriously, though
I know we have a lot of new people, but in years past, I don’t remember game threads being so bitchy as they have been the past few days. Maybe they’ve been this way all year, which is probably why I haven’t been around as much for them.
I enjoy passion, but it sure seems like the game threads have succumbed to senseless bitching about who’s not doing what and what mistakes Scioscia is making. I guess it’s the by-product of a great team—everyone has their own opinion on how to make it slightly better.

They have been bitchier
way bitchier in 2006 early and then again in August.

it's the bandwagoners
they
a.) Don’t know anything about baseball
and
b.) Don’t know how it feels to lose.

They are definitely not for the faint of heart.

Not sure how it could be redundant.
It is simply a habit I’ve picked up from other blog sites to signify there is no text included in the post beyond the subject line. Since the default display around here seems to be expanded instead of collapsed, perhaps its not needed but I still view it as a courtesy to others and don’t see the problem with using it. I have noticed that if you look at your, or someone elses, profile on this site it will give you a listing of comments posted with the subject line only. Thus, from this listing the “-nt” will identify those comments without further text included, in case one desires to dig deeper.

This is the fun of the game threads, having people make judgments about
Soth’s roster/game plan only to find in the end it results in a win, complaining about Vlad’s horrible swings at bad pitches only to have him hit a homerun two comments later, or Matthews getting an RBI double after everyone droning on about the “human out.” Watching and reading our folks make silly irrational comments and have to eat their own crow later is pretty funny.
Never give up...
just accept that there will be a few people who will poke fun at you for suggesting that people here attempt to be civil.
Nice post UK. You are on the right path, my friend.
