mlb.tv 1.2M feed
I know there's a few mlb.tv users on here, I was wondering, have any of you managed to get the 1.2Mb feed working? Every time I try and use it I get a Silverlight error, even though as far as I'm aware I've got the latest version of silverlight. I can get it going using the mosaic add-on but that's a lot slower than just using the browser version. It does look good on there though.
Cheers
Matt

Same thing happened to me as well
I can only get the 1.2MB feed when using Mosaic. The same error message comes up whenever I try to access it via the mlb.com website and never got around to calling the customer service hotline.

Forgot to say
it does the same thing whether I’m using IE or Firefox. 800k is still ok, but I still feel like I’m not getting what I’m paying for!
I was about to say... I've noticed IE works w/ Silverlight, FF doesn't
MLB reps will only discuss IE and refuse to help with FF… and I agree, their customer service is very unhelpful and lacks intelligence
Might see if they’ll let you downgrade, but since you can get 1.2 through mosaic, they’ll probably refuse… I never use 1.2 anyway… 800k is must better than 400K for viewing, but the jump in quality from 800 to 1.2 delays the game by 30-45 seconds, which isn’t conducive to being a part of the HH game thread

Have they charged you for it yet?
I won’t use anything but their cheapest feed, 400k, because they provide just about the worst service that I’ve ever voluntarily paid for. Have you ever tried to call their customer service? Better stock up for the summer before you do, they’ve got the worst customer service in a world of horrible customer service.
I’ve had too much trouble with the 400k cheap service to even consider paying for the priviledge of struggling through problems with their more expensive service. If they can’t get the basic service to work properly then why should I assume the more expensive service will work any better?
I won’t even touch the buttons for the higher rate feeds because I assume that if I received the feed for even a millisecond they’d charge my credit card for it and it would take me 3 months to get the money back, which is about how long it took me when they double-billed me at the beginning of last season.

it will just tell you that you haven't subcribed to the higher feeds

Better than the alternative
Initially, I purchased the Extra Innings package via the local cable company (Cox…uckers) and ended up having to cancel after 3 weeks of “temporarily off air” messages on those channels (resulting in me viewing a grand total of 0 Angels games during that period). So when mlb.tv produced visions of our boys in red playing their games, I was ecstatic at the fact I could finally bear witness to the action firsthand, regardless of the fact that the 1.2MB feed didn’t work perfectly.
I must say that I concur in that I don’t feel like I’m getting my money’s worth, especially in comparison to being able to watch the games on a TV (in a perfect world) for only $30 more. Oh well, it still beats reading the recap and box scores the following morning…

About 3-4 yrs ago MLB Extra Innings was available on cable where I'm at and it worked fine for me.
Since then it’s only been available through DirectTV and I’m not gonna replace my entire TV infrastructure for it. If I had the option of cable vs. mlb.tv, I’d pick cable, but since I don’t I’ll continue to pay for the patheticly poor service that comes with mlb.tv.

I got an idea for all of you mlbtv guys
yahoo or mlb gamecast + XM Radio
next season will be the debut of the MLB cable network. Then shyte gets interesting.
To be honest
I’ve never had a problem with the service, in fact, I think it’s pretty good. That being said, it’s the only option here in the UK if you want to watch live games (apart from the 1 game a week we get at midnight on sunday nights (the ESPN game). Just a bit frustrating that the 1.2M never works
Mine works well, the only problem being that...
...it stays 40 seconds to 2 minutes behind the actual game (as opposed to 5-10 seconds for 800), which makes it hard to participate in these threads——not to mention the new SB format problems.
...on the road....

My one secret
When I click on the 800 feed first, I get the claymation, stop-and-go version. When I click on the 1.2 feed, it prompts me for SilverChair BS (even though I think I’d downloaded it, but whatevs).
THE IMPORTANT THING I LEARNED: After trying & failing with the 1.2 version, then, when I go back to the 800 version, it works fine, without the stop-and-go claymation. Voila.
1.2MB works for me in Sea
I still run XP and IE 7. Must say that I find it a bit choppy at times though…mostly ok. The 800kb seems to do a better job of keeping up.
This is bad Vlad and his band of wimps!
MLB.TV
The 1.2 feed works perfectly for me other than it being delayed by about 30 seconds as others have mentioned.
When I bought the premium package MOSAIC did not work at all for me, so I went to their forums. The main sticky told me how to d/l a Microsoft.net pack or something like that. I d/l that as well as the next/def plug in and voila it worked like a charm.
When I try 6 channels at the 400k some of them lag, but if I’m just doing one channel even at 1.2 it’s not laggy at all unless I’m viewing it wirelessly in my garage.
MLB.TV
The 1.2 feed works for me but its pretty choppy whenever I try it. I generally stick to 800
Howie for MVP!
Mine errored out
initially, but then I removed Mosaic (which never worked for me) and reinstalled silverlight. At that point it seemed to work okay.

Mine never had a problem and I'm in the UK too
I have silverlight installed as well but never received any errors. I’ve never bothered with installing Mosaic because to be honest I am only interested in the Angels games … if I want to watch another one, I just pull one out of the drop-down list and I’m good to go.
The 1.2 works and looks great on my machine (1-year-old PC) with 19-inch monitor, when I go outside my home office for a smoke I can look through the window and it looks just like TV. It’s awesome.
The only advice I can give you (me being a not techie), would be to uninstall everything from MLB.TV (Mosaic, the juicer, all that shit), and also uninstall Silverlight.
Then, re-install Silverlight, and try the whole package again WITHOUT Mosaic. I don’t use Mosaic, but I have a great 1.2 MLB TV experience, so all I can think of is some conflict with your Mosaic is fucking up your 1.2.
Uninstall then reinstall in order:
Silverlight
MLB Overdrive (or WTF they call that plug-in for IE that enhances the picture quality).
Leave Mosaic out of it.
And you should be back in business and good to go.
(btw this setup works just fine for me on my laptop as well)
Good luck mate, highland
